Modern apartment near to congress centre

I rented this apartment for staying during a congress I participated at Feira Internacional congress centre. The apartment is situated in a high block house within 5 minutes walking distance from the congress centre, with a security guard on ground floor. My apartment was on 19th floor with a great view.

The apartment is well equipped with a modern bathroom, kitchen with facilities for cooking, including refridgerator, deep freezer, dishwasher, dishes. Additionally, there is a washing machine and WIFI.

As this is strictly speaking not a hotel but an apartment, you must take in account that you can only store your luggage there after the previous occupant has left and before checking out yourself.

The landlady was friendly, easy to communicate with and helpful.

The price is very reasonable for the quality.

Nice new rooms, nice staff, a bit confusing.

We booked a apartment for two days. The apartment was very nice and big. Everything looked new, and wifi was good.
Two hours before we checked in (14.00) we got a call that the room wouldent be ready until 14:30. That dosnt seen professionel, when you have a deal, then you should stick to that.
To say at the very least, check in and out was a bit complicated.
When we checked in, we were parked in the middle of a big road for 10 minutes, at the adress from the confirmation. until we by pure luck ran into a staff on the street. She opened the apartment, and another staff had to give us key.
It was the oposite when we checked out. Except this time they came 30 minutes early to hear if we were ready to leave. Which we wasnt.

If you are wanting somewhere quiet on a night to make sure you get sleep, you can't fault these apartments. The views from the balcony is great too. Although it's a bit out of the centre, it's about a half an hour walk to the metro station. But buses are also regular.

Apartment was fine, only problem - there was no hot water which made washing up /showering etc a bit of a nightmare.

nice apartment, very clean and amenities were excellent. I was e-mailed a few days before arrival as we were getting a late flight in. The owner arranged for us to be met at the apartment and the chap (Felipe) was very helpful and friendly. Showed us around and made sure we were hooked to up to the wifi before he left. The taxi driver from the airport was a bit rude as he realised it was only a short fair (10mins) from the airport so the tip i was going to give him i didn't bother!!
The main attractions in the area were a 20min walk away but this is ok when the weather is fine. There was a supermarket 2 mins away. we were only there ofr a couple of days so didn't explore Lisbon too much. i would go back to do more sight seeing but not stay in this area. we were there for the Adele concert and it was perfect for that.
One thing ladies - NO HAIR DRYER in the apartment and for 2 girls staying 3 nights this was not ideal but we coped HAHA!!

Important: The map here in Tripadvisor shows a wrong location for the appartment. It's to the North from the shown location at the intersection (roundabout) of Avenida Dom Joao II and Avenida Boa Esperanca.

Finding the appartment building was very easy. It was exactly there, where the booking site has put it on the map. A few days before my planned arrival I was contacted by the owner via eMail. We agreed on an approximate time interval for my arrival and he gave me his mobile phone number. Also this eMail had a map.

I arrived at Oriente train (also subway) station. Then headed towards the shopping center, which is also the direction to the Tejo river. Before the shopping center I turned left onto Avenida Dom Joao II. Staying on the left side, the appartment building is the last high rise building. I had to cross a few small roads, but after this building there is a big roundabout (where Avenida Dom Joao II meets Avenida Boa Esperanca) and no more multi storey buildings on the left side. From the station it was a less than 10 minute leisurely walk.

The owner actually came a few minutes ahead of the agreed time, we took an elevator to the 19th floor, he showed me the apartment, gave all necessary information (WiFi passcode, where to leave the key when leaving, etc), I paid him and he was gone, all withing 10 minutes.

The appartment looked newish and modern (Ikea style). It was a studio consisting of a rather large room with a kitchenette and a rather small bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean. There is also a washing machine in the kitchenette, which I didn't use.

The broadband internet (WiFi) was included in the price and worked well. The bed was comfy, I had a good sleep. I don't remember hearing anything from the nearby railway lines, the windows must be sound cancelling.

There is a bus stop directly in front of the appartment building with a direct route to Martim Moniz. However I took the subway to get into downtown. Getting there took a bit more than half an hour, including walk to the subway station and changing lines. However the Parque das Nacoes area is an attraction on its own right. Walking to the fair, dome or aquarium (Oceanario) should all be possible within 10 minutes. And of course, the proximity of the airport was highly appreciated as I had an early flight out. It was easy to find a taxi and the ride to the airport took less than 10 minutes and about 8 Euros (September 2014). There is also an appointed underground parking place for the appartment (for an extra fee), which I didn't use.

I sure hope to return to Lisbon rather sooner than later, and I see no reason to look for another accomondation. Highly recommended.
