Gets better with every visit

We come every few months to visit my granddaughters who live nearby. I am constantly amazed at the quality of food, service and rooms at this hotel. We had room 2 this time that is very spacious. Chris, the chef, gave us individual attention with wonderful fish on two evenings and a fantastic 5 course Sunday "brunch" with complementary champaign and different wines with each course. It was outstanding and we
wish Chris was in England. Harold, our waiter gave us "nothing is too much trouble" service. We looked behind the scenes at the wedding salons and spotlessly clean kitchens. This really is an outstanding hotel run by an outstanding couple with Eddie and Veronique. Amazing it all started many years ago with Veronique's mum feeding the local football team. The car park is packed with over 100 cars for Sunday brunch and Flemish people come from kilometres around to enjoy gourmet food. You have missed a wonderful experience if you don't eat here.

5 star plus, plus for food, service and accommodation

This was my third visit and if anything the food and service has got even better. We stayed for 6 nights and our only regret was that we came for a weekend and the following week and the kitchen was closed Sunday to Tuesday evening. Next time we will arrive on a Wednesday and leave on a Monday to experience the cuisine every day. It didn't stop us having a superb dinner on the Friday when we arrived and again on the Wednesday before we left on the Thursday. The piece de resistance was the gourmet dinner on the Saturday evening which we shared with two friends from Ostend. €55 each for 6 courses with complimentary unlimited champaign, white and red wines plus coffee and chocolates. Also we were asked if we wanted "seconds" for our main course. It is a set menu that changes monthly and our Belgium friends also think it is the best restaurant for miles around. All the food is fresh (nothing out of a packet) and cooked to order. We sat down at 7.30 and left the table at midnight - a wonderful relaxed Belgium experience. Chris, the chef, looked after us for dinner and breakfast which was also outstanding. If only hotels and restaurants existed like this in England! The 9 rooms are fantastic too with power shower and every amenity you could wish for. Eddie and Veronique run a very professional business which is well known locally for gourmet food and excellent service. Next time we must experience Sunday brunch which locals were finishing at 6pm when we returned from a day in Bruges. The restaurant is a series of rooms so it never seems crowded although they are serving many guests. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and eaten in thousands of restaurants but never experienced anywhere as good as the Salons de Vrede. It is the best.
High level overnight in he middle of nowhere, but close to the sea

Who would think finding 4-star bedrooms with splendid full Grohe-fitted bathrooms in a strong stone-constructed luxurious restaurant at the edge of a lost village in the middle of nowhere ? This surprisingly comfortable oasis is well-known by locals for its fine cuisine and special events. Afternoon tea is served at the terrace, by extremely gentle and dedicated staff. great attention to details on all levels. Groomed park, ample parking space, full discretion and quiet surroundings in the flanders.
+ Food - Building

+ What a perfect food for this price. A lot of choice, correct timing, good quality. Friendly staff.
- Building: a room after another, big noisy environment, not enough toilets (no towel paper in afternoon)
