... but pricy for what you get.
Positives: Nature and close by walking possibilities. Picturesque village. Outside beer garden nice.
Rooms: Dated but ok. Restaurant: Average at most. The game special was not special at all.
Breakfast: good but not great
Lovely place and very friendly staff

We were here for a family reunion with 5 families including 8 children. The place was clean and pleasant and great for catching up with the other family members. The staff in the restaurant were very understanding towards the children and this allowed us adults to have fun without worrying about the children. The food was also good. The kids were also able to go about the hotel without supervision which gave us peace of mind. We are planning our next year's reunion there again.
Great place

Beautiful scenery and very nice rooms with comfortable beds. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had, big variety and everything was delicious, especially the peach cheesecake. Nice location as well, in a hilly area within a lovely picturesque village.
Beautiful Location and Excellent Food

I booked the Hotel Zum Alten Schloss as my first choice of hotel was fully booked. The hotel itself is set in a rural area, about 40 minutes from the airport, on a slope. It has lovely views, which are especially good at this time of year, as there are a lot of trees (change in colour). I absolutely loved the hotel. It has a solarium, and steam room and sauna which can be prebooked. I ate in the hotel restaurant all three nights of my stay: there is a game menu, in addition to the normal menu (will need to ask if you are English speaking, as you will be given an abreviated version of the menu). I had pumpkin fritters and salad, lamb on a bed of courgettes, baked trout, and beautiful apple and cinnamon fritters with cream and ice-cream-not all on the same day, I hasten to add! Excellent choice of wines by the galss. All reasonably priced. The breakfast is excellent with lots of organic products. The hotel seems very busy with conferences and meetings. I have a couple of minor gripes-there is not much English spoken at the hotel (they will still do their best to help-helped me with sightseeing, maps etc), and the hotel is quite noisy. The lift can be heard from the room even if you are a distance away, It might be an idea to ask for a room as far away as possible from the lift (someone used it 20 times between 2am-3am one night!)
I also found one of the mattresses to be uncomfortable in the room, but when I switched to the other bed, it was fine. There was wireless internet available, FOC.
