The Arbor House Inn and Suites consists of four old houses that share a garden. Arciniega is a narrow, very quiet street, but it is well lit. It is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the convention center.
If you are using the hotel to attend an event at the convention, keep in mind that the breakfast is not available until between 8 and 8:30. I asked for as easly service as possible and in one case that meant about 8:10. The breakfast - a bagel, a muffin, juice and a fresh fruit cup is delivered to your door in a basket.
There was a coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave in the room. Regular coffee was provided, but not decaf coffee or tea.
The Bowie Suite consists of a sitting room, balcony, bedroom and a bathroom split in 2 with the toilet separate from the shower and sink. Hot water arrived quite quickly and the shower worked well.
There is plenty of light and a ceiling fan/light in both the bedroom and sitting room. I had trouble turning on the bedroom fan and didn't find the wall switch by the toilet until the second evening. The fan/light can be turned off either with the chains attached to the fixtures or the wall switch. Both must be "on" for the fan/light to work.
In the bedroom the free wifi did not work well. The signal was weak and the connection kept getting dropped. The one time I tried the internet in the sitting room in the morning the signal was much better.
All of the surfaces in the room are "cluttered" with books, glasses, knick-nacks, etc. There is a desk, but it is cluttered and none of the electrical outlets near it are open
The one bedside table is also similarly cluttered and the nearby outlets full.
I moved a large stool from the sitting room to the bedroom for my CPAP.
Some of the windows have blackout curtains, but others do not. You can get the room reasonably dark, but not completely dark. If you are sensitive to light, you may wish to bring eye shades.
The room key also opens the door to the building. You are advised to keep both locked. I was warned that it was difficult to open the front door of the grey house with the Bowie suite and to enter by the back door.

Room 303, Rio Grande house. Nice balcony, accessed via window, unique and great place to enjoy a glass of wine. Good breakfast basket. Just make sure if you want it before 8am to reinforce this with staff. Didn't deliver ours. Short walk to Riverwalk, Alamo, La Villita, Market Square and many restaurants. Easy access from Interstate.

Went to San Antonio for a trip in early April. We stayed in the honeymoon suite here for 2 nights and it couldn't have been more wonderful. Such a great location( just a block or so from the riverwalk) but away from the crowds at the end of the day! Room was beautiful, people couldn't have been more welcoming and breakfast was great! We will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our visit to San Antonio and our stay at Arbor House. The accommodations were quite comfortable, continental breakfast at our door in the morning was good, and this bed and breakfast was only a short walk to most sites. A bonus was that it was fiesta week and everything was beautifully decorated with lots of extra fun things to do and see.

Each room is lovely - older property but very nicely kept. Nice basket of breakfast goodies left at our door each morning so we could enjoy it on our patio. Plenty of room in the suite, as it had a sitting room and bedroom, and a long, private porch. Owners/managers were very accommodating. The location is a two minute walk to the riverwalk, which is a HUGE plus. We really enjoyed it. We would stay here again if we come back to San Antonio!
