I have very mixed feelings about this property - some aspects were excellent such as the welcome from the staff, the location, the pool, and the restaurant was top notch. However, other aspects were disappointing - mainly the room, the carpet was very odd and smelt funny, it was like a hard straw which was very uncomfortable to walk on and gave off this smell which made it hard for us to sleep. The bathroom was very basic and overall the room was just very old fashioned. Unfortunately despite being August the weather was very cold and rainy so we didn't use the pool, but it looked really nice and was huge. It's nice to stay in Ainhoa and walk around the town after 6/7pm when the hordes of tourists leave.
FYI if I was rating the restaurant I would give it 5 stars, but the room and comfort are only 2 stars.

Three of us travelled here while in the Pays Basque region and really enjoyed our stay here. What made it so nice is 1) the staff was so friendly and helpful - they gave great recommendations for things to do in the area and other restaurants in the area, 2) their restaurant was incredible and 3) the room was extremely comfortable and large by European standards. This is a family run business and it's obvious they take pride in what they do. Bruno checked us in and gave us lots of great information about the area including which roads to drive for nice scenery. Eliane was our hostess for dinner and she also worked the front desk as well and also gave us great info. We didn't meet the chef but he also deserves kudos because our meal here was absolutely wonderful! We would highly recommend Argi - Eder in Ainhoa.

We returned to the hotel again the second time. The hotel is so elegant and comfort . Located in a charming village .
We ate dinner at the restaurant of the hotel, We had a delicious meal , the staff is so professional and friendly.The price is expensive but worthwhile.

Argi Eder's outdoor area was nice and relaxing, with a great size pool and the tranquility of the country side. Ainhoa is very very small, and I'd honestly recommend staying in Sare for more to do and better vistas. However, you MUST have dinner at Argi Eder. As it is block long town, there are not many dining options in the area, we decided to dine in at Argi Eder and that was the absolute best decision we made.
It was a beautiful and delicious meal, offering 3 different tiers of menus. We chose the 29 euro meal which was the lowest cost meal due to some eating restrictions I have. But it ended up being one of the best meal of my trip. Dinner ended up being a 2hr+ event, and being able to just go upstairs right after the delicious dinner and drinks was such a nice option.
Note the rooms and hallways are a bit older. There is also a bit of a musty smell in the hall ways, but the rooms are clean and spacious. I also think the bathrooms can do with some renovation. As for breakfast 13 euros per person seemed a bit high as there are not any hot food options. Thus I would say stay for dinner, but skip breakfast.

We, family of 4, stayed at Argi-Eder one night in July 2017. Lovely place with beautiful nature and excursions just outside the door. The hotel is very nice with large rooms, nice view and a beautiful pool. Host and his personnel is very friendly, nice and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We only wish we would have had the possibility to stay another couple of days in the beautiful basque country.
