Tasteful and elegant rooms and public areas, including a top floor library/bar with terrace and views over the river and 'corniche'. Unintrusive service, help when you ask and drinks available at the honesty bar, self service, in the library and ground floor lounge. Good bus connections right outside for Belem in one direction and 'down town' in the other, but the centre only a 20 minute walk away. The immediate neighbourhood comes into its own in the evening with plenty of small restaurants to choose from. Oh, nearly forgot, lovely sunny court yard garden....

We were extremely pleased with our stay at Janelas Verde. The staff were warm and helpful, and the hotel itself was in an excellent location — removed from the bustle of the tourist areas, but within walking distance to the sights or a reasonable bus or taxi ride. Our room on the third floor was small, but comfortable and nicely done with a lovely view of the water. The bathroom was an excellent size. Perhaps our favourite part of the hotel was the 3rd floor library with patio overlooking the river (just around the corner from our room). We loved spending time sitting there with a drink after our day of wandering and sight seeing. The breakfasts were well done and even though we were there at the end of October, we were able to enjoy sitting in the garden with our espresso, fresh pastries (pastel de natal - yum), fruit, eggs, and sausage/bacon. A nice touch was that there was always complimentary coffees and teas, pitchers of cold water, sugar cookies and fruit available in the breakfast room, as well as chips and nuts and drinks in the library. Thank you for a wonderful stay — we hope to return one day!

My husband and I were there for two nights while visiting friends who live a block away. The room was cozy and had a gigantic bathroom. Breakfast was very nice and there is a delightful little garden area. Best of all are the helpful front desk and a rooster on the wake up call.

I loved this hotel it was like being home. It is charming, peaceful and beautiful and I will be back. The service was wonderful and the “Honesty Bar” is a great concept because it puts one at ease to feel more at home in the beautiful rooftop library that overlooks the Bay. I loved it!
It is also in a gorgeous part of Lisbon near the water in the historical center walking distance from ev everything

Staying at the Janelas Verdes hotel in Lisbon made our week extra special. The outdoor garden terrace was a lovely spot to sip coffee and enjoy a Portuguese special pastel da nata pastry each morning. The "library" on the third floor was also a great gathering spot for our group for relaxing and conversing at the end of a busy day. One night we ordered Chinese food and had it delivered to the hotel and ate in the library. The staff was fantastic providing everything we needed to enjoy our dine-in evening. The location is great and within easy walking distance of many of Lisbon's cultural experiences. Beautifully appointed rooms, delicious breakfasts, and gracious staff make this hotel the perfect place to stay in Lisbon.
