We chose Asokam Beach Resort for a family holiday and we were not disappointed. Located about 4 km away from the town along the Payyambalam Beach Road, this is a small, cozy resort whose USP is Ayurvedic treatment. We met other guests, mostly from Europe, who have been visiting every year and staying on for 15 days at a stretch to benefit from Ayurvedic massages.
The resort faces the sea and we had a great view of it each day from our air-conditioned mini-suite. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is both sumptuous and tasty. Meals such as dinner and lunch must be ordered at least an hour in advance. For special vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes, you must place an order the previous day. We were served freshly prepared food each day and that added to the experience. We found the fish curry, prawn curry and chicken biryani to our liking.
The office will call an auto-rickshaw or a cab to travel to town. However, we noticed that most guests had either hired a driver or driven their own car. This is sensible because the beach road can feel a little isolated after dark, although Kannur is largely a safe city.
The resort is only a step away from the beach. The owner and the staff are polite and helpful. We enjoyed a wonderful holiday.
Clean rooms with a view to the Arabian Sea.

We stayed at the Asokam Beach Resort in Kannur for 3 days. This resort is in a very good location. It faces the Pyyambalam Beach however, there is no direct access. One would have to walk some distance to access the beach. However as it was the monsoon season and the waters were very rough, swimming would not be advisable!
The rooms and the actual resort were all very clean. They were also air conditioned. We choose the deluxe rooms which were located on the upper floor. The staff were always available and very helpful. There is a restaurant which serves very good Kerala food. The staff will let you know the fish that is available for the day.
All in all as Kannur is not a huge tourist destination, the Asokam Beach is a good smaller hotel to stay in for a short stay.
The plus sign is the helpfulness of the staff who do go out of their way to oblige!!!
Good stay

I stayed here along with my friend. We had booked a non ac deluxe room since the ac ones were already booked. It was a small cottage, small but comfortable and cozy with a small sit out area.Only the upstairs rooms will give you a view of the sea.The beach is just 2min walk away. For people traveeling in their own vehicle it is a great location, but for people using public transport, you will need to take an auto from the railway station which will cost 100approx.For leaving the place, no autos will be readily available, but if you inofrm the reception they will arrange for it in 10min.
Pros:
Very near to the beach.
Small comfortabel room with sit out area.
Cons:
WIfi was not working most of the time.
No hot water.
Location a bit far off(not for people travelling in own car)
Breakfast was just average.
Perfect location - professional management

Although our stay at the property was short, we found the management (especially the owner) extremely professional and courteous. The location is amazing - bang on the beach.
The food options can be improved to cater to families travelling with very young kids.
Will definitely revisit if travelling to kannur again.
