Fast easy access to Spinalonga

Athinas villas provided a spacious apartment for the 2 of us with a small garden side patio. Conveniently located steps away from a couple of markets, the boat to Spinalonga and the restaurant row of Plaka. Free off street parking is about 100 meters away. The beaches are rocky (not my preferred cup of tea) but, with the late summer gale force winds, offer an attractive alternative to being sand blasted. The local establishments are fine for lunch but you would be better served heading a few clicks up the road to Eluonda for dinner.
Perfect location

We visited the beautiful village of Plaka in July this year and rented an apartment at Athina Villas from the most hospitable man, Manolis.
The apartments are in a fantastic location, right in the centre of the village, yet slightly set back from the road, so quieter than other apartments nearby.
We had a spacious one bedroom apartment which boasted two balconies. Aside from the double bedroom and a cot provided for our little one, the spacious open plan, kitchen, dining area and front room could also have slept another 2 people.
There was air condidoning in both the bedroom and living area and Wi-Fi!
A super friendly cleaner came in every other day (so needed with a little one!) and was always happy to return at a time that suited us.
My only niggle would be the tv! It was extremely small and on the wall (quite high up) in the bedroom. Yes, I know you don't go on holiday to watch tv, but there were times when our son was asleep that we might have used it.
The apartments are behind Manolis' snack bar, which we attended frequently for frappe (cold coffee) and ice cream!
Nothing was too much for Manolis, extremely accommodating.
We would highly recommend and will definately be staying again.
Lovely, friendly place to stay in Plaka

We have just returned from a lovely 10 day relaxing holiday in Plaka. We found Athina Villas by chance and are very pleased we did. It is a great place to chill out and relax, whilst enjoying Plaka and visiting the island of Spinalonga which I am drawn to ever since my first visit 5 years ago. At that time we stayed on the south of the island and had a day trip to Plaka. This time we wanted to stay in Plaka for the whole 10 days and were so happy that we did. The villas are very clean and comfortable, we had a studio apartment on the ground floor, bedding and towels changed every two days and apartment is cleaned too. The owner, Manolis couldn't do enough for us and even sent us home with gifts. Free Wifi that works very well and hot water always! We will definitely be going back soon!
Peace comes dropping from the morn.

We stayed at Athena Villas for two full weeks and in that time we had not one complaint. This was our second time to stay and if it possible it was even more enjoyable than the first time. Athena Villas has now added a beautiful little Kafeneion/cafe (The Island) and as expected this enhances the already high standards Manoli , the owner, insists on. In the outdoor garden there is a massive TV screen if you wish to watch sports from around the World - while there Manoli , with little prompting, screened the All Blacks v The Lions!
The location of Athena Villas could not bettered , right in the heart of the beautiful village of Plaka. Within 200 metres you have a well stocked mini market, a fantastic taverna The Carob Tree (Haroupia) the main departing pier for Spinalonga and myriad fish tavernas.
The apartments are cool and peaceful and are surrounded by lovely little gardens. They boast all the mod cons that are necessary! for the discerning holiday maker.
The staff , led by Manoli the owner, could not be nicer or more helpful .
All in all this is the is the place if you want to chill out and enjoy real Cretan hospitality.
Will be back.
Great place to stay in Plaka

We stayed for 2 nights in Athina Villas. We had the 2 bedroom apartment which is huge with a big terrace overlooking Spinalonga Island which is well worth the short boat trip from the pier a couple of minutes down the road. Very clean and well equipped. Manolis, the owner, is so friendly and helpful. He also has a coffee shop at the front of the apts which is great for drinks and snacks. Parking is free & right next door. There are plenty of chic restaurants on the seafront but we preferred to eat at the more traditional Maria's Old Tavern and Mentor Cafe which are both excellent.
