The place is beautiful, well built and beautifully furnished. Our room was stylish, relaxing and spacious with a great view to the lovely garden, sea and sunrise. Everything was comfort and clean; bed, linen, towels, bathroom, amenities,... Refreshing swimming pool and jacuzzi outside was a plus. We have a good breakfast every morning at our chosen time. Nice and intelligent owners Sarah and Ian took the best care of us the whole stay. Regards from Finland from Johanna and Arto!

Atholwood was easily one of our most favorite stays in New Zealand. We are a family of four (from San Francisco) and stayed in a cottage with a beautiful, private garden where we enjoyed our evening wine as the kids played on the grass. Sarah and Ian are wonderful hosts. Our cottage was immaculate with everything we needed for breakfast provided each day. They even helped us with planning excursions. Mapua is a peaceful little stop not from Nelson with great proximity to wineries. We would highly recommend Atholwood to any friends and family and we hope to come back here in the future.

Sharon is a lovely host who made sure we were taken care of while in the Nelson area. Her gorgeous property (Atholwood) overlooks the estuary with views of Richmond and Nelson at night - not to mention some of the most glorious moon/star views we've seen in a while. We stayed at the Atholwood at our 2nd of 4 stops while in southern New Zealand. It was clean, quiet, very modern and off-the-beaten path enough that we felt truly escaped from it all. Just a short drive to Nelson or Mapua for dinner, Atholwood is in an ideal location.

Sarah and Ian were perfect hosts during our two nights at this beautifully located and operated Lodge. We were upgraded to a suite, with large rooms and which was very comfortable. They helped us decide how to spend the two days at the Abel Tasman National Park (an experience not to be missed), and were a delight.
