Not worth the money
foodie077on 05/04/2017 23:17Suppose to be a 4 star hotel but I have to say that the staff attitude was a bit abrupt and the rooms quite basic for 4 star - dined at the restaurant twice but found the food quite bland and more like a fast food operations- not sure if because they seems to have a conference in house - but I would not rush back
unexceptable lunch

We ate at the tapas la Bodega to having lunch. we tried the tacaud fish by recommandation. the fish was overcooked, dry, and smelly, not clean and i'm sure frozen!!!!!!!!!After that we prefer to have a salad mixt and a salad du chef, we got back two salad mixt, didn't say anything.Well after that we ll come back to this hotel but not to eat Inside.

Clean modern rooms and bathrooms.
Friendly and efficient reception staff.
The only negative point is the food. (poor quality and disorganized service) from breakfast to dinner. I do not recommend half board.
Haven't used the Thalasso facilities, they seem good.
Overall a good 3***
A little getaway alone...
Anne Gon 26/07/2016 06:45Nice hotel on the ocean, sweetest staff, great breakfast - tropical fruits are as good as in Brazil - fresh orange juice and coffee machines for the coffee lovers... a nice way to start the day! Then you can go for a walk on the beach, hit some golf balls or try surfing at the many schools... or just go for a Spa to treat yourself with the best that the ocean can give you... so many things to do in a not so spoilt place in the Basque Country... Highly recommend!
Atlanthal, Anglet Needs Some Updating

We recently stayed at the Atlanthal, Anglet.
The Atlanthal is located midway between Biarritz and Bayonne which is a bus ride to either of these locations.
Our first impressions of the hotel were that it was fairly average and definitely not a 4 star hotel which was later confirmed upon viewing the rest of the hotel.
Whilst the reception staff were very polite this did not improve the fact that they had messed up our confirmed booking resulting in us having to move rooms during our stay.
The rooms were clean and the chambermaids were very good but the rest of the hotel is in need of some cosmetic repair work as it is looking a bit tired.
The food in the hotel restaurants was to a good standard and of reasonable value, however, the crockery and cutlery were seldom clean and required us to ask for replacements.
Breakfast is not included in the price of accommodation. At €35.00 per person per day the cost of breakfast felt very exorbitant. Although that being said there was a large number of choices.
The hotel advertises free wifi in its rooms but our experience showed that this was not true for all rooms and very unreliable in the public areas of the hotel.
Our major concern apart from the cleanliness of the crockery and cutlery was the very large numbers of small birds inhabiting the outside public areas of the hotel which resulted in all of the outside eating areas, tables and chairs being covered in bird droppings making it a very unpleasant place to try and sit and eat or drink.
Would I recommend this hotel? Probably not as for a similar price it is possible to stay in Biarritz or Bayonne.
