What People are saying

Really nice rooms in a great location

Star111980 on 29/10/2017 22:27

I really enjoyed this hotel. The room was really nice and up to date. I was on a bus tour but given a choice I would stay here again. It was one of my favourites on the holiday. We had breakfast here twice and it was really good.

Nice place

Comfy rooms. Cheerful staff. Easy walking distance to just about everything in the village.

We were with a tour and for whatever reason we were expected to order breakfast off menus instead of being served a set breakfast. Our orders came quickly but they were a bit off, with toast instead of the English muffins we'd ordered, and in my case one egg instead of two. Within a few minutes hot muffins were brought unbidden and came with an apology, and then two eggs followed. I was positively impressed with the level of commitment by the wait staff, since we hadn't even pointed out the error.

We had dinner in the dining room one night. Our stuffed sole was good, but nothing special, however the cheesecake dessert was lovely.

Celtic Colours stay

One thing is obvious when visiting Cape Breton - the people are almost uniformly pleasant, warm, and welcoming, and truly care that you have a great time while there. The only exception to this was the front desk clerk when we checked in to Auberge Gisele Inn. We took to calling her "Miss Sunshine" while we were there. My biggest concern was if the bus to the Gaelic College night Celtic Colours performances stopped there (it did, right across the street). She didn't know, which is ok, but also didn't care, which was not.. I had to walk down to the Visitor Center to find out.
The location is good, and the rooms are nice enough. I am not one who cares about décor, but my friend volunteered that the rooms looked like a French house of ill-repute - although none of use could say that for sure. We did not eat at the restaurant, so cannot comment on that.
All in all, it was a pleasant enough place to stay, other than Miss Sunshine, and the lady who checked us out the next morning was much more cheerful and welcoming - up to Cape Breton standards.
The only question I would raise, and this covers about every other place we stayed, is why do they have to put 9 or 10 pillows on the bed? You end up falling on all the pillows you have to put all around the floor when sleeping. Just wondering.

Pleasant Surprise

We stayed here for two nights on a Caravan Tour. The rooms are clean and comfortable! The food is good..not gourmet but good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The mol is within walking distance of several good restaurants and attractions.

Outdated rooms with horrible colour scheme, breakfast wasn’t included and didn’t taste great. Lots of tour buses stay here. Baddeck isn’t exactly an exciting hotel market, however so I would stay here again if the price was right.
