It is unusual for me to review accommodation, but I felt I must make an exception for this establishment so as to warn my followers should you be considering stopping here.
I was on my way back to Blighty having had a wonderful three week in the south, I selected this modest hotel as had I heard the restaurant was good as often Auberges are. Whilst I knew the restuarant was shut on the evening we arrived our stay was for two nights and I had already selected the other restaurant an old favourite of mine.
We arrived at 4pm and the sun had followed us and it was still 25 degrees, so imagine my surprise to find that the pool was shut and locked, the surprises did not stop there as we checked in we told that our previously requested room upgrade had not been possible but that the boss was now able to upgrade us to two rooms in the annexe outside of the hotel, we then found out why. We were the only guests staying apart for a couple of elderly long term residence. The hotel was in fact closing after our check in.
We were given our keys and told that in an emergency call this number and someone would come to the hotel.
The rooms were tired and one had not been cleaned the whole hotel needs some care, there was a noisy sleep inhibiting extractor fan in one room that would not go off. obviously I did not feel inclined to eat there the following night but don't despair the staff are quite charming they apologise very well all the practice they get no doubt their apologies were not I fear sincere, my recommendation to you however are DO NOT VISIT HERE !
Pleasant hotel with easy access.

We arrived on a very hot afternoon so it was nice to cool off in the pool. Dinner was served under the lime trees. The drawback was our garden terrace room 114. There are no windows to the outside from the room, only in the bathroom. If we hadn't left the bathroom door open and a shoe in the room door we would have been stifled as no air conditioning.
The breakfast was very ordinary. Machine coffee, synthetic fruit juices and small croissants which became crumbs before you could eat them. And expensive for its quality.€12
Pity because the staff were excellent.

We stayed here for two nights in July 2016. The Auberge is situated about 2km from the centre of Aix-Les-Bain and about 1.5 from the lakeside.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. All our questions about the local facilities and places to visit were answered readily and with plenty of additional and useful information.
We had a superior room with a small balcony overlooking the garden. It was contemporarily furnished, very clean and comfortable. The hotel has a small pool with an adequate supply of sunbeds and chairs in the surrounding garden. There are plenty of places to sit both in the sun and the shade.
All areas of the hotel are clean and tidy.
As other reviewers have noted the food is superb. We ate lunch on Sunday and dinner on Monday in the restaurant and both meals could not be faulted. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening so we had to take a taxi downtown to eat.
If you are staying in Aix or en-route elsewhere I would highly recommend this hotel.
