The Auldington is a very comfortable hotel as it has recently been refurbished. The clientele are older which is why it is suitable as a quieter hotel. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The only issue we had was that the breakfast was slightly out of date.

We stayed at the Auldington for the second time in a couple of years recently and used it as a starting and return base for the Overland Track and returned a week later. Right from the start, the staff could not be more helpful. They offered to look after baggage for us while we hiked the Overland and they were flexible when I was still not completely sure of some associated booking arrangements.
The rooms were gorgeous. Big comfy beds, luscious deep baths, and well appointed rooms with modern decor. The hotel is very close to central Launceston and everything is about a 5 minute walk away. The staff are very helpful with recommendations for food and they are knowledgeable about services and other things to do in Launceston.
We did not have breakfast although I know that this can be arranged. We will stay here again, as it is a friendly, comfy and lovely hotel, close to everything.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights in Winter !! Lovely comfortable room overlooking the city. We walked into the city area at night for dinner and found great food choices each time. Would definitely stay here again, the only downfall is the amount of free wifi.

Our plane was delayed and we were late into Launceston. Unknown to us, this private hotel's reception closes at 8.30pm. We rang the hotel and were told by James that there was a call out fee as we were late, and that this was listed online. I hadn't read the policy section when I booked. So we were a bit surprised to find a key safe at the hotel, a service that hadn't been offered to us. Instead we gave up our credit card to a surly James, who didn't appear pleased to be called out. Having spent since 8am traveling that day, we weren't that pleased either. James 'graciously ' charged us $30 rather than the $60 call out fee.
So this experience coloured our stay somewhat.
Told by James to use certain entrances to come and go btw 8.30pm and 8.30am to minimize guest disturbance, we were surprised to be woken by a whipper snipper at 7.30 the next morning.
But, other than that, our 3 night stay was comfortable, with a large, airy room, deep, luxurious bath, and well stocked bar fridge.
This ex-convent is close to the city, and within walking distance of a cute cafe.
Would we book here again? I think there are better offerings which don't come with a dose of late night attitude, especially when it's not coming from tired travelers, but the hotel owner.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, great recommendations for food and activities across a range of prices. The room was clean, large and airy with very high ceilings and a guest lounge in a lovely old-fashioned setting. The location was walking distance to everything including Cataract Gorge.
