What People are saying

Ugly

GB_TravelAddict on 07/11/2017 16:36

Terrible hotel in so beautiful building. It could be a luxury place but someone decided to make a low class hotel from which you want to walk away asap.
Extremely dirty in the room, everything is in spots and bathroom with mold. It seemed that curtains were washed last century, you feel the smell of dust everywhere. There is no necessary things in the room and bathroom which you expect to have staying in 4* hotel.
They had to change a “fresh” bed linens in the room because it was full of smb’s hairs.
Generally saying - ugly place to stay even for one night. If you want to see a Palace, come for an hour and go back to any normal hotel.

Old Fashioned Hotel

This is an old fashioned hotel which has seen better days but which is still impressive. Nothing that £20M wouldn't sort out and which I would imagine could be a good investment. Well located on a hill with commanding views over the city it was clearly magnificent in its day. Friendly enough staff, the conciege man was excellent, but the rooms were tired and the bathrooms even tireder. Parking is plentiful and free. Taxi needed to go into town centre - just15 Euros so not expensive. Four stars is probably generous but it is a great building.

Wonderful Stay

philb07 on 15/09/2017 08:45

A beautiful hotel with excellent rooms, facilities, and food, in a beautiful location quietly on the fringe of the Vienna woods high above the city. Very efficient service and highly recommended, a classical elegant building

Not 4 stars hotel

Stefan C on 12/09/2017 14:08

The hotel is situated in a historic building on a hill from which you can see the whole Wien. It has a good parking. I expected a lot more from this hotel but it definitely does not deserve 4 stars. We have stayed in many 4-5 stars hotels in Austria and they usually have a very good standard. The room that we had was tall but very small (like a 2 stars room). Also, the bathroom was small. I barely managed to take a shower. We only received a set of toiletries although we had a double room. There was no air conditioning in the room and we were not able to open the window due to the noise produced by the wedding. We received a low cost fan which was totally ineffective for the August temperature.. The halls of the hotel and the elevators are outdated. It gives you the feeling of an old hospital not of a 4 stars hotel in a palace. The breakfast products were plenty and of high quality but the area in which the breakfast took place was not in a pretty good state (see the flooring of the terrace which was not flat) and also some tables with a good view were reserved like it was a dinner or something. From my opinion it was a bad value. Hotel has potential but it looks like it's running on minimum cost.

A Restaurant with a view to die for

Erika L on 01/09/2017 09:24

We just had a meal at Villa Aurora which is half way up the Wilhelminenberg and as my cousin had not been there for 30 years decided we try if we can just have a drink or a snack as it was 3 pm past the usual lunch trade. We found a very friendly waiter Herr Gadus and he welcomed us and we sat at the edge overlooking quite a bit of Vienna.. my female cousin had a Cherry Lady and my male cousin and I decided on an ice coffee. We were given quite generously a large glass of water each, as a rule this is a small glass with a coffee, I had been charged at Restaurants 30 cents for a glass of water in Vienns, I had never paid for this in London.
My cousin liked her Cherry Lady and I my Ice Coffee although it contained some crushed ice and I am allergic to it, my cousin complained it did not contain enough Vanilla Ice, I must say it was only priced at E 4.70 and for a place with such a view it is. Very cheap and the coffe was strong and of good quality, there was a chip on the base of my glass, had it been on the top I would have complained, however my cousin did to the waiter about the ice and the chip and he apologised.
What was not good in my eyes there were 5 people next to us, smoking non stop and talking on the mobile non stop, at one time 3 were on the phone at the same time.
My female cousin asked for a menu and told me her daughter is coming from Sweden and asked for a nice Hotel to stay and she looked at the menu and liked what she sa and decided, she will recommend it to her daughter to come and stay with he family.
I think I like the place but think that mobiles should. It be allowed in Restaurants, they can be answered and people should take it out to have lengthy conversations.
I had to answer for rooms although I have no idea, otherwise I could not complete the report
