Seriously, people, this place has ruined all other hotels for me. It's a slice of heaven on earth. The facility is beautiful and the amenities are unbelievable. The stay starts with welcome gifts of wine glasses and a generous gift basket of snacks and beverages. In the morning the hotel provides hot, fresh croissants and organic orange juice. Then at noon they have a nacho bar with Coronas and Cokes followed up at 5:00 by a happy hour with hors d'oeuvres and fantastic wine. If that's not enough they serve you hot baked pies and ice cream at 8:30. Upon departing they provide you with another gift of either truffles or a ceramic tile. The rooms have spa tubs in them as well as other features you can read about on their website. All around, the best hotel I've ever stayed in. I can't say enough good things about it. P.S. It's extremely quiet and calming and only a block from the ocean.

Our stay at La Fonda was delightful. The decor is amazing. The employees are wonderful. The amenities exceeded our already lofty expectations based on the positive reviews. If we return to Avila Beach, I can’t imagine staying elsewhere.

Don’t stay here the reception at the front has the worst customer service skills ever. We had a room book and because we had an infant their policy if we would need a different type of room. Well because they were booked up they just cancel the reservation and didn’t try to accommodate. Stay at the Avila lighthouse on the ocean front it’s way nicer and better service.

This is a lovely place right in Avila Beach. Our experience with the manager, Tom, made us know that this place is a class act and well run. His kind assistance was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this place on another visit.

Avila La Fonda provides an excellent experience in every way. We stayed for seven magical days. We will stay here again and again. Here is why:
Dog friendly
Stylish hotel rooms, some with jetted tubs and full kitchens, some with an in-room spa, all with private patios
Welcome basket of snacks and beverages in the room upon arrival
Freshly baked croissants (plain and chocolate,) coffee, tea, fruit juice, newspaper every morning
Nachos with Corona and Coca Cola in the afternoon
Wine and appetizers in the early evening
Freshly baked homemade pie from the Avila Barn and ice cream in the later evening
Beach chairs, towels, and other beach gear available at no cost and on the honor system
Departing gifts to commemorate the visit (stemless wine glasses, ceramic tile coasters)
Reasonable rates for a boutique hotel in a tiny and very popular beach town
The staff knew us, including our dog, by name by day two of our visit. They were always friendly and casual, like we all knew each other for a long time or something. One of the maintenance workers helped us get our bicycles out of their storage, even though he was off work and heading out the door to go home.
This lovely hotel is not beachfront and offers no ocean views. It is only one small block from Avila Beach so this is not a concern. We would stay here again and again, even though there are other hotels that are beachfront. The atmosphere at the Avila La Fonda is so relaxing. It offers a real laid back beach vibe. We had a fabulous week here and did not want to leave.
