We chose Ayothaya because it is centrally located and better than most other hotels around it.
Rooms: Large, clean and comfortable, the setting is motel style instead of hotel. Shower and toilets are clean but minimum toiletries provided.
Staff: Not particularly helpful, smiling but not knowledgeable. Minimum English spoken here.
Meals: Did not take meals here.
Ambience: Old, dated, always trying to save on the electricity used in lighting.
However they do have bicycles for rent, but we chose to rent a motorbike just round the corner on the right.

This is a nice hotel, near to market, shop and transportation.
Excellent service, clean and comfortable room. We stay in the main block.
There is a direct Van transportation to chatuchat park MRT station for 60 bat

The location is good - in as much as it is on a busy street with shops and restaurants.
Pool - the actual pool is okay but it is just plonked on the roof with no attempt to create a nice area to actually relax. There are a few plastic chairs but that is it.
Breakfast - poor. The worst of my whole trip but it was edible. I wish these places would offer a Thai breakfast instead as they do western so badly!

Nice budget hotel, with a liking for wooden artefacts, decorations, furniture, signs, etc. Friendly, helpful staff - most with little English.
Clean rooms of reasonable size. Plenty of hot water. Basic but steady wifi.
Good medium-sized pool, depth from approx 3' to 5'. Plus a paddling-pool with fountain, about 2' deep.
There's a restaurant and Thai massage, but I didn't see anyone using either, at any time of day, for 3 days.
Lots of the parking in the back is reserved. The free spots seem to be in front of the rooms at the back, not the main building. You can park in front of the hotel on the main road, if it occurs to you to move the wheeled railings.
You can pay for late check-out. Only dodgy thing I found was them charging (a few euros only) for the bottles of water in the room - which they consider to be mini-bar use!

We only stayed 2 nights and it served its purpose. We were not in the main hotel, our room was in a motel type building behind the parking lot. It was clean and had air conditioning and a TV. There is no mini fridge and no closet though. Instead of a closet there was an upright log with 4 branches. We heard there was a pool but never checked it out. Every time you flushed the toilet it gave off a sewer smell. The staff are friendly but their English is limited. The upside is it was only $17 per night, so we didn't expect much anyway. Wouldn't stay again.
