BEST HOLIDAY EVER! Thanks Thomson

A C on 19/11/2017 23:55

From the beginning until the end this was a fantastic holiday for me and my wife.
We travelled from Manchester and pre booked premium seats with Thomson in feb. This was a good choice as the leg room was great (I am quite tall) and it was nice to have that little bit of luxury.
We arrived at Jamaica airport and had pre-booked a fast track process through immigration and security which we must have been the only ones as everyone else was queuing and we sailed through to the front. We didn't get much time in the lounge but we were happy to just get on the bus and get to the hotel.

After reading ALOT of reviews on here, I must admit that some people really are pathetic and I am mainly writing my review because not EVERYTHING is as bad as what people make out on here. Drama queens.

Yes, there is an issue with the sunbeds but be simple and realistic, if the hotel had provided everyone with a sunbed they wouldn't have a beach left. We just put a towel on the beach like normal, sane people if there were no sunbeds. We don't create drama just because we read some 'sunbed' reviews on here. There was some really rude people to the staff here over sunbeds and you should be ashamed of yourselves. You're not human! Like I say, when we found one, we found one, when we didn't, we used a towel and led on the beach. Lovely.

We didn't book any premium or adults only section as the holiday was quite costly without the extras but the service, staff, management, thomsons reps, everyone was so nice, polite, helpful and always smiling. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

We even did some trips through the thomsons reps when we were there. We have had several bad experiences in the past booking through people on the beach etc so we paid a little extra to 'hopefully' have it organised better and we were not disspointed. Thankyou to the reps. We went on a trip to bob marleys house (who doesn't in Jamaica) and then another one to Kingston to see his other house and a coffee plantation. absolutely amazing and worth every penny.

We did some watersports from the guys on th ebach also. They were really friendly and we had so much fun. Definitely recommend these.

Food and Drink .. AMAZING! There was just soooo much variety and all very tasty I have definitely come home ALOT heavier.

Room ... Very clean, tidy and always smelt great. We overheard on the beach people moaning about their room, but ours was good as we are on 'holiday' and only went to the room to sleep, we didnt need anything fancy because we were not planning on spending 24 hours in the room.

It did rain quite a bit but that's the weather, cant do much about that.

The only downsides were the Americans, no volume button at all and always seemed rude to staff .... should be ashamed of yourselves!

I could add in a lot more but you have to see it for yourselves hahaha

All in all, great holiday. Thankyou Thomson, thankyou Sensatori.

Beautiful resort

Jodi J on 19/11/2017 21:50

So basically this is two resorts that have merged together. The older side being the Tui side owned by Thompson ( UK) and the other owned by Karisma( Mexico ). The Tui side is the older part but still very modern. The new Azul side is where we stayed and it has a very nice layout that makes the rooms , beach and restaurants all very close to Each other.
Our bus ride from the airport in Montego bay to Negril took almost 3 hours with all the stops the driver made along the way. And the worst part of it was waiting in the airport parking lot for other passengers. Next time we will definitely pay $60 and take a private taxi which was how we went home. We booked it with Rockys taxi out of Negril and they were awesome! They had us at the airport in an hour and 15 minutes. We also used them for a day trip to the Blue hole and again they were great.
Our check in was quick and easy however they didn't have any rooms side by side for us( we are a family of 5 and had two rooms booked) so they put us in the very last section of the Azul side with one room upstairs and the other just below with the hopes of something opening up in the morning to move us.
This is where things can get confusing at this resort. So we booked premium suites through Sunwing and the resort has buildings marked " premium " but they didn't have any rooms available in their premium section. So they gave us another upgrade and moved us into 2 swim up rooms in building 12 that were side by side.
Each room had a king bed and a double pull out. The rooms were very nicely decorated and very modern. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only downside was there are no bath tubs only showers but the bathrooms were huge with double sinks.
On our first day there they assigned us a personal concierge who we could find in one of the adjoining little office cabanas beside our building. Here they could book you into any of the a la carte restaurants and gave you options of what kindle of pillows you would like in your room. I think they had 8 different kinds to choose from. You could also choose what kind of hand made soap you wanted in your room and what kind of essential oil you would like sprayed in your room for the Turn down service ( basically dropping off Hershey kisses on your pillows and giving you fresh towels). They never did do the spray in our rooms though.
The swim up rooms were really very cool! Each section also has its own swim up bar that is attached to a section of rooms that are all connected by a small lazy river type of pool. The bartenders were really good and the drink selections were fabulous!
The beach is amazing! You couldn't even ask for anything better! But of course this is 7 mile beach which is a little slice of paradise.
Crystal clear water. Warm. White sand. Perfection!
They also had tons of great loungers and beds with a canopy that made lounging on the beach luxurious.
Security at the resort was in full force and made sure that the beach peddlers didn't bother you if you didn't want to be bothered ( as the 7 mile beach is a public beach).
There were free water sports and some paid right on the resort too. We did snorkeling for $30 a person for an hour or so. The snorkeling was pretty uneventful as there wasn't much to see but the boat ride was nice. The driver took us back along the shoreline and showed us the many other resorts and some of the expensive properties owed by some wealth Americans.
We were celebrating our Anniversary and the resort gave us a complimentary dinner on the beach and we got to choose from 3 or 4 different menu options. We chose the steak and paid the extra $25 per person to add lobster tails. We also got breakfast in bed the following morning.
The beach dinner set up was lovely. Very romantic. And the lobster was good.
And now about the food....
The food is the only reason why we wouldn't go back to this resort. Which sucks because everything else was really amazing!
Including the staff who went the extra mile for us after our daughter forgot her special blanket when we checked out. Tineta who is one of the managers was incredibly helpful in first of all finding the blanket and then getting FedEx to send the blanket back to us. Really a life saver! She was the manager who also made sure we were put into rooms that kept our family together too. This lady knows how to do her job very well!
Okay back to the food...
So on our side of the resort there were two restaurants. One Asian that you need reservations for and one Buffett.
We ate at both and although the food wasn't bad it wasn't great either. Except for the deep fried ice cream in the Asian restaurant. That was really good!
So the Buffett served breakfast and dinner and for dinners the items changed a bit but not much.
The decor in both places was beautiful. Tons of attention to detail and very much feeling luxurious.
Beside our building there was a small snack desk that served panini , coffee, tea , waffles and wraps and ice cream. This was all very good.
Then on the other side of the resort there was another Buffett for breakfast , lunch and dinner. An Italian restaurant ( need reservations) and two other A la carte restaurants that didn't require reservations.
The Italian was delicious! And again the decor and staff were impressive.
On this side of the resort there is also a jerk counter and another little snack bar.
Room service was available until 12 each night and this came in handy for our kids who really didn't eat much in the restaurants because of the lack of choices. So being able to order a grilled cheese hit the spot. It was also nice to eat breakfast in bed whenever we wanted.
This side also had the only large pool.
There were lovely little bars on both sides of the resort and at night time each side had different entertainment which was very nice.
There wasn't a ton of stuff for kids to do here. No children's activities although they did have a teen room and a small playground with water features and swinging trapeze type play set. They also have 2 small basketball courts and a small pool table.
The spa was fabulous! I had a massage and reflexology combo and it was heavenly. Again the spa had every detail looked after. I got to choose
which special oil blend they used and after my massage they took me to a very zen space including a mini water fall to sit and have a tea and cookie before leaving. And the massage therapist was very good!
Overall the resort could be a 10 if there were more food choices but I think for most people who do an all inclusive the food is top priority.

Clean, modern and freindly

MR_Fishaman on 19/11/2017 19:35

Recently spent one week here and had a fantastic time. The complex has a modern and fresh feeling to it and is situated in a great location.
I've honestly never met such happy and freindly staff, always smiling and happy to help. The locals were also really nice.
The beach is stunning and the water pristine. You do have to get up early to secure a sunbed but you are never to far away from a nearby bar.
If you're fan of live music and especially reggae you'll love this place as there is always someone busking on the beach. The evening entertainment is also fantastic.
Theres some great excursions to take advantage of on offer.
Would definitely return to Jamaica and this hotel.

Honest review

Laurenpinkbella on 18/11/2017 23:48

After hearing such fantastic reviews about this hotel my family and I were excited to spend two weeks here.

We arrived to the airport where I had booked a private taxi with Thomson, this was possibly the worst thing I’ve ever travelled in and considering I had paid so much for it. None of us felt safe!

On arrival to the hotel the staff didn’t look like they were expecting us and told us to just sit down. We was then treated by a lovely gentleman who offered to get us all some drinks and a cold cloth.

After leaving us all sat there for nearly an hour my husband went over to explain that my three children were tired and would like to go tot the room.
On the walk up to the room I noticed that the two bedroom ocean front room we booked was heading behind a bar and an awful lot of trees.
After walking in to what looked like a death trap to my just 3year old, I explained that this was not the room I had booked, the lady just said “yes it is and we are full so you can’t move” i then found my email with what I had booked, showed the lady who said yet again “we’re full” my husband had to go and spend half an hour shouting at the rep who agreed to move us the next day.
I then have to spend the evening in a room that was really dirty, damp and smelt just awful....
There was some horrendous stairs that I didn’t feel safe coming down let alone my children! There was so many broken things it was untrue.

After spending most of the next day going back and to to reception and re packing to move, they eventually moved us at 3pm.

The room they moved us to was the room I booked in the first place, however yet again it smelt awful, was dirty and in need of a huge overhaul!
There was an air conditioning unit coming off the wall.
The bathrooms were full of bugs crawling all over.
I had to make up the sofa bed every evening for my daughter to sleep on.
There was no bedding for the spare bed.
All the floor tiles were chipped .
It was so damp it was untrue.
Dirty and yet again the smell was awful.

Around the main pool I counted 14 dirty sun beds (that’s all)

Around the other pools there could be 1-10 but no more.

The beach beds were covered in ants with rips in them and mild growing on them.

Food was ok, but there’s only so much chicken and rice you can eat!

We didn’t have the best of weather so had to spend most of our time in our dirty room, we was all so upset and no matter what you said to the rep they couldn’t care less. We stayed 5 days out of of two week holiday before we left to go elsewhere. When telling the rep we was leaving she didn’t even bother to ask us why. Came out with have a great time!

How Thomson can say this is a five star hotel and charge you what they do is beyond me......

The one I can say is some of the staff were just lovely.

Sorry to write this if you’re just about to go but I just wouldn’t go expecting a luxury hotel as you won’t get it!
