Upmarket and relaxing family hotel with a a wonderful view onto a drinking hole where you can sip your drink and watch animals come close by. Excellent food and very comfortable rooms. Saw plenty of fame on the game drive and self drive.

Paid a fortune for a three night package and was hugely disappointed. One gets the feeling that this place simply goes through the motions to justify taking your money. The experience was completely impersonal. The reception staff are sloppy and unhelpful, and the rooms and public spaces are dated and unkempt. A redeeming feature is the food which was excellent, but you can get far better value in this area. Avoid.

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. It is amazing. Beautiful and comfortable and delicious food, very welcoming staff, and a great safari program. I went with 18 students and 3 other adults. We had an amazing day of safari and the students were so happy with the buffet. Wonderful fires welcomed us on the cold evenings and mornings. Our safari driver, Zack, was super determined to find lions for us, and he did! I want to come back just as a couple and enjoy the cool looking spa offerings.
The Pilensberg National Park is a great safari spot!

We stayed for 2 nights during a trip to SA. We have done the high end safari before. We thought this was an amazing place so close to Joburg (2 1/2 hours). The facilities are super nice. Our room was excellent. The game drives were amazing. The guides were not worried about rushing back at a certain time and made sure that we got to see a lot of different animals. I cannot recommend this place enough as a quick safari getaway if you are in Joburg and don't have the time to go elsewhere. Top notch.

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend at Bakubung Bush Lodge. The lodge is situated (and secured by wildlife fencing) around a watering hole that was visited by wildebeest, warthog, monkey and birds. Our room was large, comfortable and very well appointed. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style but excellent! The Friday night brai in the bush was also excellent. We really enjoyed our wine around the bonfire. The staff was very friendly and made a point to know the guests. We did a morning and evening game drive. Our guides were careful, fun and knowledgeable. Our guide Joy asked what we wanted to see and she delivered! Being surrounded by elephants and finding lions in pursuit of dinner were highlights to be remembered!
