Just spent 5 nights here for some rest and relaxation. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Especially the Reception crew! We made use of the excellent Spa facilities and the free shuttle bus to Razlog and Bansko. Lovely views from our room over the mountains and the Pirin Golf resort.

The hotel room was very nice, with a kitchen and nice sized balcony. We also had beautiful mountain views that I certainly never got bored with. We also found the staff to be really friendly and attentive so that was great. They were always there to offer advice or call us a taxi and the customer service lady was very handy when it came to telling us how to get around. The hotel had a huge range of excursions and activities on offer so there was certainly no chance of getting bored.
The pools were certainly not the hotels strong points. The outdoor pool was extremely cold and could only really be tolerated for short periods. There was a much warmer indoor pool but it seemed quite dirty, with murky water and grubby mirrors.
Going into town to eat was pretty necessary as the food in the hotel restaurant was certainly not up to 4 star standards and the two times we ate there we found the food to be bland and clearly microwaved, sometimes it was just convenient though.

Good spa facilities, nice room, amazing views!
Would give 5 but I couldn't as our cutlery wasn't all there/some was broken on arrival in a self catered room. The spa is great but we went out of season so the hotel was pretty dead - therefore if you went in season and the hotel was busy it might be quite crowded? The food in the restaurant is OK and the surroundings are lovely!

The Balkan Jewel Resort is located outside the city. It's a 15 minute drive to Bansko with almost nothing in between. If you don't have your own means of transportation, it's terribly hard to get to the city and back.
The resort is split up into four building, unfortunately they are not connected with an internal walkway. Ergo you have to exit your building to go to the restaurant, the front desk, the gym/massage room/ jacuzzi, etc. Think about that in the winter; you'll have to wear a winter coat just to go for breakfast or pack a bag to go for a massage.
We went during the off season. We were in the Amber building of the resort. All the lights in the building were almost always off, so we would have to turn on the lights when we entered/exited the building and our floor. The building was deserted. It's just strange for a hotel.
The sole restaurant at the resort isn't very good but it's your only option if you don't want to get out.
I regret picking the Balkan Jewel Resort. I strongly recommend picking a hotel in Bansko, around the city center instead.
