We had a fantastic room with a great view, the staff especially we very helpfull, we had a bad experience with our driver who cheated us and the North Sikkim hotel in Lachen was a nightmare, but the manager was very supportive and asked us to pay whatever we wished and he was genuinely upset with what we faced in Lachen.
The food in the hotel was very good,the only draw back was the distance from the main town especially because we were travelling with three elderly people.
If we go to Sikkim again we would stay love to stay in the same hotel again

I visited gangtok in july 2015,booked the hotel after reading the reviews at TripAdvisor,had a talk with Mr Pintu,and he booked the room for us at a very resale price,the view from the room,in one word-Awesome.Ms Rajni and all the staff members were very polite.
I am visiting Gangtok again next month and hope enjoy another good stay at the hotel.

Decent place to stay with family. Kids friendly, my daughter had a stomach upset on the tour, they went out of their way to make pressure cooked boiled rice and potato for her. Kids can play outside. No fear of passing traffic.
Rooms are of decent size. Mountain facing rooms are well lit up. Those rooms have view too. Mt. Kanchenjunga is visible on a clear day.
Just about 100 steps and 2 minutes walk down hill you are at the M G Marg (Gangtok Mall). Coming back from the Mall it is advisable to take taxis.
Food is good, fresh. The buffet breakfast and dinner is tasty and light on stomach. There is no lunch buffet. However, there is an option of a la carte lunch if informed beforehand.
Staff is very friendly. Any help you want, be it planning sightseeing, day trip or return to NJP/Bagdogra, the hotel staff tries their best to help you out in arranging the same.
Thanks a lot to Rajni, Mr. Mingma and all the staff at the Bamboo Groove Retreat for making our stay a pleasant one. We would definitely love to return back.

Tripadvisor reviews can sometimes be misleading. Looking at the high ratings and rave reviews, we came here with high expectations, but what we found was a budget lodge. So, please have your expectations set at the right level if you happen to book here. This is not really a 'hotel' in the normal meaning of the term. This is at best a lodge. So, if you are using a room only to sleep at night, this might be an okay place. one point to note - they do not have a 'proper' restaurant. you need to place your order via intercom from your room, and they will inform you when it is ready, then you go to the dining area to have it - not a very bad arrangement, but again, if you expected a restaurant, you will be disappointed.
Another point - technically, it is close to MG Marg, but please note that the shortest way is through a steep steps - this will not work for elderly people or anyone who has problem in climbing steep stairs.
But - their charges are very reasonable. So, if you have minimum expectations, this place might just work for you.

We stayed in room no 302 on the top floor. Though I had booked a deluxe room, i was given 302(attic room- maybe). The room was very big with a living room and separate bedroom. Both rooms had sofa and tables separately. The beds were quite comfy as well.
The location is good and very nearer to MG road market but had steep stairs to climb. Not advisable for 65+ age.
The food was really good as we had dinner and breakfast in the hotel. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. This has been so far the best room thruout out journey to northeast.
