What People are saying

Brilliant holiday!

Brian Eon 30/10/2017 21:29

We really enjoyed our stay during October half term. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the kids enjoyed the kids club. The hotel is set in a very nice location and is ideal for walking and cycling. Food is good and varied, the bedrooms are very comfortable, and the hotel gets top marks for cleanliness.

Amigo's don't lie....

Returned last week from 7 days stay.

Not much to do there. We walked along the beach one way for about 45 minutes one day, then the same the other way the next day. Walked to the shop one day and went into Almeria twice by bus, we even took different buses to ring the changes! Almeria places of interest are not open on a Monday which would of been useful if the rep had told us before we had to find out for ourselves.

The brochure says 3 outdoor swimming pools, one was closed off on our 2nd day. The day time pool snack bar was also closed down on 2nd day, along with the pool side bar. Brochure says lobby bar and evening bar - this is the same bar with usually only one bar staff at any time serving every guest in the hotel. There was a 2nd member of staff for the evenings but was generally serving food to non-residents. In the room there is a Barcelo directory which states that one of the outdoor pools is heated, this is not the case. I was told that the indoor pool is heated and it would cost me 9 euros to use as was part of the spa. We chose this hotel as it included a gym was is important to my husband to use every day. There are no showers in there and he was not allowed to use the one in the spa until 11am but should use the pool side ones instead. This was not an acceptable option to shower at the pool side in cold water after a work out. The animation team were a waste of space, they only did aqua aerobics. My husband went down to the darts once and he was the only one who turned up, the team was not pro-active in getting guests to take part in anything, not once was water polo, archery or table tennis played.

The swimming pools had a line of sand at the shallow end on a daily basis and when we said something, the pool was cleaned but the sand remained.

Evening entertainment was advertised as being occasional but in the hotel they did advertise what was on each night. We had football one night on the TV (in Spanish) and Bingo another night!!

The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a free safe and free wifi across the hotel.

The food was of the usually standard although many times I saw flies sitting on the cooked meats! One day we suffered a power cut which lasted about 15 minutes late in the afternoon. When we went down to dinner, we were told it would be ten minutes late due to the power cut. It was about 20 minutes late and not only a very limited selection, but what was on offer was being served luke warm. We were told by the Manager that it was because there were no windows in the kitchen and therefore they were unable to work, but if they managed to cook the food, why was it cold?

One evening we were with another couple when I was approached by a man who was so drunk that when he spoke to me, I was unable to even work out what language he was speaking. I politely asked him to leave, which he did after my husband stood up, but he returned shortly after and sat next to me, so I moved. Then my husband and the other guest I was with both told him to leave. I then went to reception and asked for him to be removed as it was causing a scene. They did nothing. Eventually he was escorted to his room. The bar staff (the one and only one that night) had continued to serve him alcohol even through he was drunk.

Now on to the rep - Becky. I sat with her and made a complaint which she wrote down. She told me that it would be sent to Thomas Cook and I would get a copy of it by email and then I could either take it up with them directly or through the shop where I booked the holiday as they would also get a copy - she lied. This isn't the procedure. Becky appeared very sympathetic and understanding but actually she is very patronising and I felt she could wait to get rid of us.

Although we never go back to the same hotel, we do recommend good ones to friends and colleagues. I would certainly NOT RECOMMEND this one, in our opinion it was not a holiday hotel but a corporate hotel. The reception staff were not interested in any complaints and were heard to be very argumentative with other guests. I was having issues with the room key card on a daily basis but they did nothing to rectify the problem, in fact one day I was told the computers were down and to come back later to have the key recharged!!

My advise would be to go elsewhere unless its for business or golf!

Lovely Relaxing Holiday

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at this hotel with our son (38), the hotel is lovely clean and the rooms were great. The food was ok I found the lunch time meals better than at dinner.
There is not much to do round the hotel and it was out of season but we knew this when we booked. The staff were all nice and friendly. There are buses which you can get to Almeria for just over €1, and nice walks.
On our final day we were not being picked up until 6.30 and we wanted to keep one of our rooms, we had to wait until our last day to see if we could but we were told no. The hotel was not full and it was not as if they were giving us something there was a charge of €25. They did let us have a room to shower which was I suppose better than nothing.
This did not spoil our lovely week away.

Lovely and relaxing

The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport so it was a lovely short transfer. On arriving, it looked lovely clean and modern so we were impressed. Quick and easy check in, our room was a bit of a trek from the reception but there were quite few doors open on the way leading to the pool area. Room was large and clean and bathroom the same, large and clean with a lovely balcony view of the mountains. Entertainment is quite loud but nothing too disturbing. It was lovely and quiet when we went, few people and felt like we had the pools to ourselves. There is a little kids pool with a little park area and bouncy castle (which doesn't stay up all day) and 3 other pools to choose from. One was warmer so idea for little ones and parents to swim at the same time. Plenty of sun loungers and easy access to the bar and restaurant. We went all inclusive so I can't comment on the prices but plenty of drinks available. Had some maintenance issues in the room with our door but fixed quickly and efficiently. Staff were really nice and housekeeping worked hard, we had our roomed cleaned every day. There is a lovely walk outside the back of the resort to the beach and watch the sunset, if you walk 10 minutes down, there are a couple cocktail bars and a kiddy play area (this wasn't open when we went down there after 2pm so I'm unsure when it opens) but it was a fairly big inside play area. A bit further down to that is a cart hire which was really well priced. The beach is a little bit stoney but was lovely to walk along. There was something different each nice food wise and I never had an issue, great range to choose from. I'd say it's suited for much younger children or adults, older children may get bored. All in all, was a lovely relaxing holiday and would recommend.

Hidden gem!

We loved this hotel it has everything we wanted. The food was very good and there was always something we liked on offer. We found the staff polite and friendly. We liked the place so much we have already booked again for next year. The fly in the ointment is poor WiFi speed. The hotel was very clean the room was excellent and included a free safe. Bedding and towels were changed every three days. This is an out of the way hotel with only a few shops and bars nearby but there are some marvellous sea front walks where you can absorb the rugged and beautiful Andalusia scenery.
