Every summer, when the wind doesn't blow were I live, I take a trip to a windy place to get my kitesurfing fix. I've traveled to Cabarete for kitesurfing before, about 8 years ago. The Barefoot Beach Pad gets 5 stars in all categories for me. If you want a fabulous kitesurfing spot that is away from the kite beach madness and crowds, has a huge, secluded beach at your doorstep, has plenty of wind and waves, with butter-smooth flat water 2.5 miles upwind (La Boca), then this is the spot for you. You need to be experienced enough to handle rougher water, so unfortunately this place may not be right for a kitesurfer who is still trying to learn.
Hector (proprietor) and Andres (caretaker) were both outstanding. You can get just about anything you need from them. The rooms were super clean, had kitchenettes, free Wi-Fi, A/C, and TV. There are no flies or mosquitos either. If you like to take care of yourself like I do, you can go to Janet's Supermercado 1km down the road and stock up on all the food and Presidente beer you need. The grounds and pool were great, and there was excellent security (armed security guard on watch at night). Your car is even parked inside the hotel grounds, behind a sliding door that gets locked at night.
The next time I travel to Cabarete, the Barefoot Beach Pad is where I will be staying, ¡seguro que sí!

I stayed at this wonderfully quiet hotel for 3 ahort days in February and immediately fell in love with it.
It was a very last minute booking (less than one hour ahead of checking in!!), but management handled our check-in very responsibly and professionally, making sure that we were comfortable while they prepared our room.
The staff is phenomenal; very quick and handy, and ready to assist with any needs of the guests. Our room was vast and comfortable.
We upgraded to an ocean front room on day 2 because upon seeing the view, we thought why not make this an even more amazing experience.
I'll be returning to this wonderful hidden treasure in July for 8 days to celebrate my birthday and cant wait to sit by the pool and take amazing walks along the beach.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Barefoot Beach Pad was perfect - it's a 30-40 minute walk on the beach to Cabarete, a perfect distance to experience the town and also get away from it to the quiet retreat. BBP is a small, intimate hotel, where you get to know your neighbors. Hector was great in sharing advice and helping to navigate activities, taxi rides, etc. Thanks so much to the whole team there - Hector, Andres & Andrea. We are still a-glow from our time spent with you!!

Any closer and you'd be camping on the beach. Amazing to be able to leave the balcony door open to hear the waves at night. A little far to town...not a problem if you're ok with that. Andres & his wife live on site, ready to make a meal or take care of anything else. Security is present at night. Not brand new, but everything works fine... A/C, cable, hot water, pool, etc. Relaxing get-away spot.

I loved the location. Because it was a bit down the road from town, it was the most peaceful place I've ever been. Extremely safe! Getting to town was a breeze: walk or cheap transport. Hector provided a great first trip to town, including stops to exchange money and grocery shop. He also arranged reliable, reasonable airport transport. Great coammunicator from start to finish. Clean, spacious comfy room with furnished balcony: great breezes, outstanding beach view, no bugs. Don't think we even put on the ac; this is the only place in the world where i've slept with the windows open all night and didnt even need a screen. Just loved hearing only the surf all night long. Other guests were quiet and respectful...no loud noise, music, or craziness. Lovely, attentive on site couple; room service sweetly provided if you'd like to eat on your balcony. Highly recommend.
