It occupies a wonderful elevated position overlooking Aswan and the Nile. it is not far from the town centre and is opposite the entrance to the Nubia museum. It is a large complex that has suffered from the effects of the decline in tourism in Egypt and I am very saddened by this. So in parts it is a little faded. However, having said that, the hygiene is good. We enjoyed good food, and the breakfast buffet was fine. Given the price, I think they do very well. There is a good sized swimming pool and lovely outdoor lounge bar overlooking the town. The rooms are a good size, with balconies and the beds comfortable. The rooms lack in facilities - i.e. no hairdryer provided but you can get one from reception, although I have to say the one they sent up didn't work and was so covered in grease that it stuck to my fingers. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which would have been nice. We did find soap, shampoo, combs, toothbrushes etc however. But the staff and the service they gave were very good. The evening meal was excellent value and quality, and the price of alcoholic drinks as well as soft drinks and beer, were very reasonable. Please come back to Egypt, and do give the Basma a chance.

Rooms were big and clean. Was disappointed to find no shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom. Laundry facilities were excellent and very reasonable in price. Food was ok. Water was provided on our first day of our stay. Other days it had to be purchased. Staff were excellent, efficient, friendly and very helpful. Would gladly recommend this hotel.
Pool was alot of fun. There was no internet provided.

Graceful hotel, huge covered area, rooms and building give an old impression but you get all the facilities you may need, rooms are large in size with all comforts, beds are large too, clean & comfortable, I got pool side room with balcony, a scenic view, at little distance you can see river Nile’s blue water, this place is airy and pleasant.
Hotel is located on a little height, in just front of Nubian museum, there is a restaurant inside the hotel, but if you want to go to Aswan Down town for meals “El Masri�� restaurant is a good place. Aswan Downtown is around 1 ½ km, approx. 20 – 25 minute walk, taxi charge 20 Egyptian pound.
Hotel is little far from markets and restaurants area but it is nice place to stay, staff is helpful and very polite as most of the people in Aswan. I was there on 14th Sep 2017

Basma Hotel , is Gorgeous with its magnificent Nile view, specially from its wide Terrace, the Best hospitality you can find . I enjoyed so much my stay .Friendly staff they were so hospitable , helpful and smiling, special thanks for Guirguis ,(and the Super Turkish coffee he made for me and always serving it with a kind smile ). The food was excellent .
Room was fantastic , Huge Bed , stunning view .

Yesterday 3 of Sep. We were around 10 friends who decided to have something to drink at the hotel.
5 of us ordered first & all orders were suck except the cold drinks like cola, but the milkshake & French coffee's taste were really bad which didn't encourage the rest of us to order.
When we ordered the chick the waiter told us that there is minimum charge 20 le per person??!!!
Why it's not written on the menu & nobody told us from the beginning, so we can change the place to somewhere serving better drinks.
When we complained the waiter said that his manager did that because he was expecting to see a big check for our table. OMG so the minimum charge thing is not legal from the beginning & it's added according to manager's expectations.
It's the last time i'll visit this horrible place.
