The pros: Very clean. Very central in Echo Park. Lovely owner. Nice parking space that is easily accessible. Nicely appointed. Nice spot for one person. Modern and lovely space.
The cons: You cannot make telephone calls in this particular room because there is no reception. You have to walk outside and/or into the parking lot. Very small room with no real table to use as work space. Also, one of the apartments is being redone so the noise from construction was there for two of the days, but I wasn't informed of the construction work upfront.

My classmates and I had the privilege of staying at the Baxter 5 while we were in LA for a 3-week college course. I can't say enough about how great the experience was. The Sage apartment was not only beautiful, but also extremely comfortable. I loved taking advantage of the fully furnished kitchen, having breakfast on the side porch, and sleeping in the comfy king-sized bed. Michelle was the epitome of great customer service and hospitality. There was not one moment where we did not have everything we needed. She even went out of her way to offer me medicine and tea when she found out that I was feeling under the weather.
Baxter 5 is in quiet and serene neighborhood, yet very close to some tasty restaurants and cafes. Parking was readily available and the coded door lock did away with the hassle of dealing with keys. King Boo was always hanging around to provide comfort to cat lovers missing their furry friends back home.
I highly recommend staying at the Baxter 5. It made my course in Los Angeles that much more amazing.

We had a wonderfull stay at the Baxter 5. The Sage apartment is beautifull and comfortable. The owner, Michelle, was very helpfull and nice. She gave a warm welcome and directly told us all the information we needed about the apartment and the area. The area was great, with al lot of good places nearby and not to far from Downtown L.A. and Hollywood.

Thank you Michelle for a wonderful stay. We’d rented our house out while we were on an extended vacation and came back early so needed a place to stay. We considered Downtown LA, which is nearby, but then remembered your vacation rental right in our neighborhood. I’m happy we stayed with you. Downtown LA has many grand hotels, but none could compare to the rest and quiet of your romantic little cottage: the Maple. The condo is Melrose style with two patios. I especially loved the herb garden – great for preparing meals.

What can I say? The owner/staff is super friendly, the place is unique and in the neighborhood, and you're close to all things LA. You can walk to Dodger Stadium, if you can make it up the Baxter steps, and to Elysian Park. Fix Coffee is around the corner for eats and coffee and La Compadre is a 1.5 mike walk or can ride. Enjoy this location to taste what it is like to live in LA!
