Charming hotel

Spend 24 hours in The Bay Tree and it was a pleasure. A charming town and just off the high street there is this lovely hotel.
A lot of things are very good about the hotel. The food was good both breakfast and dinner as well as the things they served during our coffee breaks.
The room is comfortable and has all the basics, it is a bit old fashioned though and i would even go so far as calling the plumbing outdated. I struggled with the low shower and temperature management.
The hotel was also generally a bit cold and drafty. To combat that there were multiple fireplaces constantly on and in our meeting room there was an electric heater and airconditioning.
There was one other minor critique and that is the service. Whilst kind and well meaning they were a bit young and quality of service inconsistent. Something very clear during breakfast service as well.
A Cotswolds Gem

A gorgeously appointed hotel in the center of a beautiful English town.
The stylish rooms, public spaces, and meals were all of a high quality. I will bring my tour groups annually.
This American enjoyed the oh so British ambiance
What a gem!

My partner and I visited this hotel
For a wedding on 3/11/17 and what a fabulous time we had. From the minute we arrived we felt relaxed. The rooms in this olde worldy, higgeldy piggledy hotel are beautifully decorated and furnished. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in whilst away from home. Down filled bedding and a fab en suite. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and our room was only £100 including breakfast - this was a wedding rate but represented exceptional value for money for what we had. We are planning a return weekend in the new year to explore this lovely Cotswold town. Gentleman - if you want a romantic venue to treat your other half - you can't go wrong with the Bay Tree.
Disappointing Food

We were in the area and decided to stop by for dinner based on all the reviews and oh boy I wish we had gone elsewhere. Despite the wonderfully presented dishes, the food was tasteless, the meat we had was over cooked and the desserts were equally disappointing. However, the ambiance and the staff were excellent to the point where we really did not feel like complaining. We had toyed with the idea of spending the night but decided against this, based on the food. Sadly we will not visit this place again and really felt strongly enough to write this review for the benefit of other potential visitors to Burford, which is a wonderful little Cotswold Village that we do frequently visit.

We arrived to be told we had been upgraded to the bridal suite for our stay. The hotel is homely and relaxing. The highlight of the stay was the way we were made to feel so welcome and we were treated like royalty. All staff were professional and could not do enough for us. It was so nice to be smiled at and not made to feel we were just a number. The food was delicious, our room was perfect. I hope the staff get to read reviews as they deserve praise for their work. We will visit again soon. Thank you.
