Exceptional hotel with excellent sea view and very clean rooms and breakfast, but weak wifi connection. I enjoyed 4 days staying at Dalian city of china and at the hotel during my trip to dalian universit. Thanks

For a business trip through China, I had one day in Dalian. The Bay Shore Hotel, with the marvelous view over the sea, the bridge with the colored lights, and very nice room, is really a nice place to be. You can have the nice view from inside the shower! The breakfast in the panoramic restaurant, is very good; more Chinese than continental. Also the crew is not all speaking English.

I stayed at Bayshore hotel as a guest of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, who seem to have a deal with them (my hosts called it their "campus hotel" - which may be a bit of an exaggeration). The hotel is super nicely located at the waterfront, and close (walking distance) to the main downtown area of Dalian. When I travelled, just before Chinese New Year, it was very quiet, for example, there was hardly anyone at breakfast in the morning. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The see-through shower is funny. WiFi was acceptable (a little slow like in many other locations in China). The hotel has no gym facilities, so for exercise I went out running along the beach, which was great.

For Chinese standards, Dalian is a small city in the northeastern-most part of the country, a swim away for the west coast of Korea, and an hour’s flight from Beijing. Few Europeans or North Americans would know it, unless for a reason. And although the city is not the showcase of what the Chinese have achieved in the past few years, in terms of infrastructure, urban planning, organization, cleanliness and quality of life (parks, amenities, etc.) Dalian has little to envy others for. The Bayshore is the typical 5* business hotel one would find in hundreds these days throughout Asia. In comparison, though, its prices are quite reasonable and the level of service is excellent, once you contend yourself that “what can I do for you” is as far as you can go with English… Once there, don’t miss to visit Xinghai Square, the largest in Asia and dine at the poshy residential areas on the hillside, just outside the city center.

Stayed here for a day on a business trip. The good things are the location within walking distance of Xinghai Square, the rooms which are large and well equipped, the breakfast spread, the staff at the reception are quite competent and speak and understand English reasonably well. The not so good things are the air conditioning, and trying to order some food from the 24 th Floor so called Western Restaurant - we had reached Dalian late and to get to eat something here was a struggle due to language as well as non availability
