My partner and i booked a one night stay on sunday the 6th of November, the hotel is situated on Minchinhampton Common, where cattle freely stroll about on the roads, and the common, we found our room no.43 which is a dog friendly room complete with doggy bowl etc. etc. the view across the valley was amazing, room had complimentary hot drinks, tea, coffee , choc, room was spacious, clean, the bed was huge and very comfortable. We explored the hotel it had lots of nooks and crannies for diners and drinkers, reception had two bears on view, stuffed ones of course !!. the menus are amazing, drinks of any sort are available, some may say a bit pricey, but we found it about right.....if you want a special night or two away this is the place to come..

This was my second trip to this hotel and I have no complaints regarding the room, ambience or courtesy of the reception and bar staff. However the breakfast was a disappointment. I ordered a portion of the haddock with poached egg, but the former was cold, dry and tasteless.After complaining to the waitress and returning the fish, I received neither an apology or an offer of a replacement. It then took 2 emails to the hotel reception/ management to even receive an apology. This will be my last trip to this hotel. Such a shame as previously I could not fault it.

We stayed at the Bear on a Friday night to recce a walk locally. How nice it is inside the hotel with its many pleasant ground floor rooms, bar and restaurant. Our bedroom was very nice, Reception was helpful and breakfast excellent - so good that we wished we had eaten there on Friday night (we ate elsewhere - I think mistakenly). Had we known it would be this nice we would have stayed another night.

Fantastic place to stay - good attentive staff , a great room (35 on the top floor with panoramic views ) great location for walks , good bar , good food .

The one (and very small) negative was on arrival , my full English was a tad cold .
Having said that , the breakfast spread available was exemplary .
Would strongly recommend it for a short break .

Full of character, stunning views, gorgeous food. We were lucky enough to be in the main house with a fabulous view over the valley. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was perfectly cooked
