Loved the location, right in the middle of everything i wanted to see and do in Victoria. The staff where very informative and kind, went out of their way to help. the rooms are all different, i found the room i had a very nice size, had a fridge, book shelve with books, lol, it was a nice room.

I stayed at said hotel for 4 days and found it pleasant. It is an older hotel - probably built in the 1930's or 40's or even earlier - with smaller rooms; but comfortable. My room contained a very comfortable and large bed with a LCD TV - good sized screen, a small fridge, and a coffee-maker. Iron and board were also on hand. Everything was very clean and the housekeeping service was excellent. Even though there was a sign by the sink that said if you wanted to change your towels to leave the used ones in the shower stall or bathtub - which I never did - the towels were replaced every morning. Not environmentally friendly; but I did my part. The bathroom was fine although the shower stall was a little cramped; but satisfactory. The front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. As you walk through the halls and the lobby area it's as if you stepped back in time to the pre-war era; but kind of cool. The hotel is located in the center of the downtown area where there are a myriad of shopping and eating choices. It is one of the cheaper downtown Victoria hotels and if you're not too fussy an excellent budget choice.

My occasional Victoria visits bring me to the Bedford as it’s unbeatable inner city location make it all so easy. From close by secure parking to quiet comfortable room at a modest price, it works for me.
In the heart of the “entertainment” district, there is lots to do.

For $100 a night at downtown Victoria, I didn't have exceptionally high expectations.
However, it's far below even my meager expectations.
Positives:
- Friendly Staff
- Great Location
Negatives:
- Room hasn't been renovated in probably 20-30 years. Bunch of scuffs on the walls and furniture.
- WIFI is spotty, and when it works it's about the same speed as dial-up
- Not all the rooms come with complimentary breakfast (which by the way, did not look appetizing at all)
- Bed is very firm and I could feel the springs. I've had nicer beds at $30 hostels.
- I get that due to being an old building there was a limited number of places to put the TV, and as a result it's in a poor location. However, at least make sure you have batteries that actually work in the remotes to turn them on.
The biggest negative was the shampoo. It comes out of a dispenser that you'd expect to see in a public restroom which is a bit off-putting. However, the main issue is that it's scented and my partner had an allergic reaction to it. We asked to check out early due to this, and we were refused by the manager. So for one night we had to buy shampoo that will be thrown away afterwards.
All in all, it's the worst experience I've had at a hotel.

We stayed for one night. When we arrived 10 mins before checkout time we were told they might just need to finish vacuuming our room, but that we could go up and put our bags away. When we got up there the room had not yet been touched - the bed was not made, there was garbage in the room. We decided to go back down and wait until the room was ready to unload our stuff. When we got back to the lobby, the nice woman at reception was surprised to learn the state of our room, and quickly upgraded our room to one that was already clean, and much nicer than the first. The rest of our stay was very enjoyable and we would definitely return to this gem in the heart of downtown Victoria. Thanks!
