Phoned up the night before and booked a room. They didn't want payment in advance, trusting us to turn up - nice to be trusted. Arrived to be given a massive room all for £69 inc an all-you can eat breakfast. Plenty of parking. The staff in the country club restaurant were unbelievably friendly and welcoming. Food great, arrived promptly and well-priced. Will definitely be returning with some friends to go mountain biking in the Forest of Dean - they have secure bike storage. Minor observations (not criticisms): 1) The slightly out-dated room décor is not to everyone's taste, but didn't detract from out enjoyment 2) TV reception in room wasn't great. They cater for weddings but these seem to be held in the adjacent country club, so no noise affect on the hotel section.

All our guests have commented on how good the food was
Disco was brilliant and we danced most of the night away

What a gem this place is ,staff amazing, golf course brilliant absolute bargain for the money,tapas bar in town very lively at weekends,would definitely visit again.we were a party of 5 big (fat) men and we struggled to finish the dinners 😂

Stayed here for two nights as members of a coach party visiting the Forest of Dean. We stayed here a year ago and my review at that time holds good for this visit.
This is a very nice 3 star hotel and good value for money. Our room, the same as last year was spacious, clean with plenty of storage for clothes. The bathroom was clean with nice toiletries and big fluffy towels.
Breakfast is a buffet with plenty of choices - cooked English, cereal, toast, croissants, fruit etc. Our evening meal was tasty and again we had good choices which is not always the case when you are part of a coach party.
All the staff are friendly and helpful but special mention must be made of the lady who manages the restaurant. She is an absolute star whose finger is on the pulse and her team of youngsters run like clockwork.

Our Nephew got married in Clearwell and used this hotel for his reception. We live in Kent so decided to stay here for 4 nights and also visit other places. The room was very clean and big enough with an ensuite bathroom that also was a fair size. It was kept clean and tidy throughout our stay and when we asked for an extra blanket one was provided immediately. Breakfast was self service and excellent, catering for all tastes, Gluten free bread was available when asked for. We ate in the restaurant every evening, cost was reasonable and menu was adequate. The wedding reception was very good, the meal was well presented and we were given what we had previously ordered. In the evening they had provided a disco and there was a finger buffet provided. There were clearly lots of golfers who came on packages but they were all well behaved and there was no noise at night in spite of the fact that the hotel was full. The only problem we had was that their entry card keys to the room failed on a regular basis, we had about 6 cards each during our stay. These were replaced vey quickly and didn't inconvenience us very much, would stay there again.
