What People are saying

Close to the beach

Joseph H on 06/10/2017 05:29

This was a conveniently located hotel. It was close to the beach, had a great view, provided a comfortable bed. Restaurant and coffee shop were located down stairs. A no hassle place to stay. We stayed two nights and the rate was reasonable. I would stay here again.

4th of July

Our room was large and faced the ocean. I think some of the other rooms were a bit smaller. We are glad we got the room we had due to having children. The hotel is old but it is clean and cheap. There is a Starbucks next door and down stairs is a burger place with good food. The beach is across the street and it was nice and quite. Not a place to party so much but nice for a family weekend get away. We will be back.

Good Location

We stayed a nigh there in our a week trip in S.Korea. The hotel is located just in-front of the beach. The room was nice and clean. The rest room was equipped with modernized equipments. We bought a 7 day package, so we don't actually know that it was good for money or not.

Nice hotel, beach view, on bus line

SerenaWL on 01/10/2014 19:48

This hotel is on Sonjung beach. There are several beaches in Busan and this is one is much prettier than Haeundae beach, less busy. The hotel room was clean (smelled of...smoke, maybe). Only a choice of double bed or 2 twins. Nice selection of amenities (robes, inside slippers, bath slippers, big bottles of high quality shampoo, moisturizer, body wash in bathroom.
Toilet has the bidet and air dry feature. Also provided: comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, facial moisturizer, mouthwash, razor, shower cap. In the bedroom, there is a make up vanity, with tissues, q-tips, hair dryer, etc - very complete. However, there was only a top sheet (no fitted sheet), so we had to sleep on top of the sheet and cover with the comforter. Also, when I pulled back the comforter, there was a hair (looked like curly public hair) on the sheet. The desk clerk would only give us one key card, even tho there was 2 of us. The restaurant was closed because it was a holiday (Chousek - sort of Korean Thanksgiving). However, over a peak holiday, one would think the restaurant would be available.

Rooms come with either a double bed or two twins. Ours had a view, to the west, of the city and the beach. At the end of the block, you can catch Bus 181 to the Haedong Yongungsa Temple.
There are lots of small local restaurants, mini marts and shops, coffee cafes along the street.

However, Hawundae beach is where the action is - the Americanized ex-pat area, the ferry ride, bigger restaurants, the main drag, Gukbap Alley, big shopping, restaurants with Western fare (Sharky's Reef, Geecko's, Wolfhound Pub), the seating along the beach, street performers, Busan Gwangandaegyo Bridge, etc. We found that altho we enjoyed the beach view, we kept taking taxis to Haeundae, so we would have been better off selecting a hotel there and being able to walk. (The bus line does not follow the beach - to get to Haeundae you have to go north, then west, then south).

Overall, a nice hotel, good price ($110/nt), no breakfast available.

Sand, sand and the sea in 30 seconds flat!

Getting there:

My friends and I travelled from Seoul by KTX (train -- not to be confused with the subway system). The train ride cost about ₩110,000 (return) and it took about 2.5 hours. We booked the tickets online using the KTX website and collected the tickets from Seoul Station on the day of our trip. Seoul sees lots of domestic and international travelers in summer so the lines tend to be long. But Koreans can be impatient so lines in general move fast as service is brisk.

KTX is fast, clean and comfortable so no complains there.

Now this hotel is near Sojung beach and is quite a distance from Busan Station. I am not lamenting, just making a general remark so you have an idea what you are in for.

We took a taxi from Busan train station to the hotel. The ride took about 45 minutes and the fare came up to about ₩25,000. Expect an additional toll charge of about ₩1000.

Here's the hotel address in Hangeul alphabet so you can show it to your cab driver (who all seem friendlier than the harried ones we had encountered in Seoul):

베니키아 송정 호텔 612-040
부산 해운대구 송정동 297-9

Alternately, you can take the subway from Busan Station on Line 1 (부산) to Jangsan Station (장산) on Line 2 and take a taxi from there as the hotel is rather far from the subway station. It's about a 10-minute ride and cost about ₩6000. When traveling via the subway, you will need to make a transfer from Line 1 to Line 2 at Seomyeon Station (서면).

The hotel:
The travel was totally worth it! The hotel sits right across Sojung beach (송정). It literally took us about 30 seconds to get to the beach. Sojung beach is smaller, less crowded and cleaner than Haeundae beach (해운대) and that makes Sojung beach a better choice if you want to bum around.
The beach is "open" from 9.30am to 6pm. After 6pm, swimming and other water sports are prohibited for safety reasons. It is of course alright to slash around in the cool waters :)

While the reception staff was not rattling off fluently in English, we checked in with minimal fuss. (Brisk, efficient Korean service at work.)

I suppose this hotel is still quite new so the fixtures and furniture were in good condition and the room was very clean. The room and the bathroom was spacious enough and all basic amenities were provided (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc)

Our only lament was that the power sockets were not working very well so we couldn't charge our phones fully. We didn't try getting the staff to help us as we didn't want to go through too much of a struggle. (The language barrier, though not a major handicap, can be rather trying and exhausting.) My friend also mentioned that the blankets were rather thin and it did get a bit cold in the middle of the night.

All in all a wonderful experience and I would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Busan. I would definitely fit in one more day for totally bumming out at the beach because Sojung beach is just so nice.
