Great place to unwind!

Brenda B on 19/11/2016 18:15

I've stayed here on two occasions and it is the most amazing place you can be with the right company to just relax and enjoy the surroundings.

This place is located 1 minute from the beach, most of the time you have it all to yourself. You can talk lovely walks or hire a taxi to take you around, reasonably price or get a rental depending on your length of stay.

These apartments a nicely decorated and very airy, and gives you a feeling of home away from home. You have the choice to eat out or buy groceries and make your meals in the well equipped kitchen.

I will recommend Bequia Beachfront Villas with hesitation.

Great Island.. Great location.. Just great!

The location of the Bequia Beachfront Villa Hotel on Friendship Bay could have not been better. Four of us spent three nights there in the two bedroom apartment overlooking the beach, before boarding a Tradewinds catamaran for a weeks’ sailing in the St Vincent’s. The staff could not do enough to make us feel at home. After some time in an all-inclusive hotel in Barbados – which was also very good – it was great to self-cater for breakfast and lunch and eat local produce. Not a cheap place to holiday but very rewarding. The beach was amazing and the sea so clear ideal for snorkelling. And we were the only ones on it! We had dinner at the close-by hotel for dinner, which involved a walk through the surf there and back. We engaged the services of the very likable and efficient Jenson (no relation) to drive us around the island. He was worth every penny - (gideontaxi@vincysurf.com). In a short time we really did get the feel for the real Caribbean.

bequia is great however,,,,,isolated and weird vibe

we stayed 5 days, we where laughed at as we had paid way to much, 311.00 us dollars
for a dingy one bedroom, cute locations though isolated and hard to get around from,
we should have stayed on the Carabbean side where there are hotels with decent prices on food and the nice beaches.
they could have upgraded us as there was no one else there, and the staff was lovely,
also the only place for beverages or food you do not bring to the room is the bequia beach hotel, very expensive and average food.

Amazing...

Can't describe how wonderful Bequia & the Beachfront Villas were. Might be our best vacation ever and we love the BVI's. Bequia is great with lots of good restaurants in close proximity. Take taxis - driving is much too difficult for a rental car. We used Gideon the whole trip and he has a brother and 2 nephews who drive so someone is always available on short notice. He ran a tab for us and we paid at the end of the week. And Gideon is Daphne's brother. Daphne is the manager at the Beachfront Villas. She is amazing. It was like having our personal concierge/housekeeper/mom. There are only 3 units and the other 2 were vacant. We had the 1 BDR on the ground floor and she would have moved us up to the 2 BDR but it had just been vacated. The 1 BDR was fine - more than enough room and the small beach right outside our front door was great. even better was the reef - one of the 3 best on the island. we snorkeled every day. and scuba'd at Devil's Table with Dive Bequia and took the The Friendship Rose to Tobago Cays. Didn't make it to Mustique - next time.
I could go on but I need to get back to work. Bequia is a wonderful island and the Beachfront Villas were great. they are for sale so they might be under new management soon - check to make sure Daphne is still in charge.

Great place to get away

My wife and I spend a week there. There are only 3 units. I recommend the second floor unit, because the 1 bedroom unit on the first floor (where we stayed) has foliage interfering with the view of the bay. The beach was non-existent in front of the villas - there's a rocky area in front. There's a narrow beach a short walk down the shoreline. Because this bay faces southeast, there were small waves, and the water was not clear, as opposed to Lower Bay where we snorkeled. The only restaurant nearby is the one at the hotel down the beach, but it was not open yet, as were not several in Port Elizabeth. There were a few bugs, not enough to bother me but enough to bother my wife (she's sweeter than me). I give these details not because they mattered much to us, but in the interest of a complete picture. Now the good stuff: we were the only ones there, two of very few tourists on the island. This is my kind of Caribbean - no crowds, no big hotels or condos, no stores you ever heard of, lots of open air restaurants, friendly people who are not yet tired of tourists. We had a great time just unwinding and spending time together, reading, going into town, cooking, swimming and snorkeling. LIstening to the wind in the palms and the rain and the waves. Getting a fresh fish from the fishermen next door. The decor was relaxing and the ceilings must be 12 feet high. Large living room with 2 double doors leading to the spacious porch. The water was no more than 10 feet from the porch. Well equipped kitchen. Big bedroom with a king bed. Tiled bathroom. Daphne, the housekeeper, was great. If you said you didn't have any limes for the fish, she would show up an hour later with limes. Her nephew Garvin has a taxi and provided transportation when we didn't want to use the mini-buses ($1.50 EC). He showed us a great place to snorkel on Lower Bay.
This is not a place like the Corona commercial, where you sit on a wide beach in a lounger and have your drinks brought to you. But it has a unique charm. We had a wonderful time.
