I had been in London at meetings throughout the day. Trains were cancelled due to an accident so I needed to find somewhere to stay. Hotels around London Euston and Kings Cross were full so I reverted to the internet to find something as close to the station as possible. Up popped the Berjaya Eden Park Hotel in Bayswater. Rooms looked quite large, clean and equipped with a TV. How misleading that was. I paid £150 for a 1 night stay (London is expensive - no problem) but it was nothing more than a hostel. I was put in the lower basement floor in a tiny room, TV didn't work, boiling hot room but couldn't switch the heating off, dirty carpet, chipped paint, ancient furniture......it was horrible.
The hotel was not as advertised, it was overpriced and under equipped. Dirty, cramped and generally not a nice place to be.
Avoid if possible.

This hotel is literally a stone's throw away from Bayswater tube station and about 5 minutes' walk to Marble Arch station.
Other than the location, there was nothing which i liked about the hotel.
The shower temperature was either too cold or too hot and the knob was difficult to turn. We had no choice but to live with a tepid temperature shower throughout our stay. The bathroom is extremely small with basic necessities given pathetic.
Furnishing is old and outdated and clearly screaming to be refurbished. Our room had a stale musty smell.
The room temperature was centralised and very stuffy as a result. Luckily the windows could be opened.
You could leave your luggage at the reception for £1 per luggage.

Disgusting!!! We didn’t have many expectations. A clean and dry room would have been totally enough. They gave us a room in the basement which was cold, dark and musty. The carpet was dirty. The staff was working just next to our room so it was very loud.
We changed the hotel.

I love this little gem. Other reviewers lament about how it is tired looking and needs a refresh. I like to focus on what makes this hotel great. We booked the Eden suite and were very pleased. Very comfortable bed and couch. Fantastic extras like a travel toothbrush, and shave kits. Even lovely slippers and robes. Most importantly, quiet room, and comfortable bed. The room and hotel and overall hotel was tidy. Yes, the elevator is small and old. but you know what I am not sleeping in the lift so who cares.
I have travelled to London many times. This is the only hotel that has ever met or exceeded my expectations.

Location close to the tube in a beautiful building. A lot of stairs, small flights and long flights, a step at my door, and yes I tripped over it more than once.
Day one: no hot water. I asked reception to send maintenance the next day, which resulted in... still no hot water. Unbelievable.
One night I heard a girl outside my door around 10pm moving rooms, I'm not the only one with issues. Buffet breakfast was acceptable.
On check out day a clerk said “see you next time” as I was fleeing the premises, you should have seen my face! You'd have to pay me to stay here again.
