Good, clean, friendly management

Stayed here for a night with my boyfriend. Small room but clean. Bed is spacious for two and also clean and comfy. Has a small fridge and microwave. Bathroom is small with a small shower room but it's ok. They don't provide any hair dryer so bring one. I'd just management to scrub the shower floor but it's not at all eeky. There's also free parking on the property that's covered and not covered. The only thing about this property is you hear next door people easily as well as the outside traffic. I woke up when someone next door flushed the toilet in the wee hours of the morning. But I'm also a very light sleeper. The traffic outside isn't bad. My boyfriend and I would stay here again next time we're in Berkeley. For the price, it serves its purpose. There's also lots of places to eat that's walking distance, so it's a good deal. I'd tell management to keep up the good work.

OK, so this is not exactly your normal option for a comfortable hotel stay as a tourist. But the Bay Area is notorious for being sold out at certain times of the year and mostly, the regular rates even in low periods will make your eyes water. So under those circs, you may have to consider options that simply wouldn't normally be on your radar.
At first glance, this isn't a property anybody but a backpacker or a poverty stricken student would go for. Although having written that, paying over $100 a night for a 2* property way outside the SF city centre (and even quite a way outside the heart of Berkeley) isn't exactly a cheap option. Yet, this property isn't half as bad as it may appear.
The rooms are very basic, but are actually very clean. The bedding is certainly clean and fresh, as are the towels. The bed is comfortable and there's aircon, a fridge and a microwave, as well as free WIFI. There's no communal area and the outside of the property is run down and dirty, plus it's not exactly in a choice area, but once inside the rooms, I think it's a fine stay. Even on the front of the property facing the very busy San Pablo Avenue, it's quite quiet. The furniture in the room isn't exactly in great shape, but if you just need somewhere to sleep and wash, then I would say this property delivers.
The bus runs outside the door to Oakland and BART, but you can also walk about 10-15 minutes to a BART station (North Berkeley) and connect to SF, Emeryville, San Jose and all points in between quite quickly.
If you are strapped for a place to stay in the Bay Area during one of it's crowded times, give this place a shot. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but nor is it a homeless shelter.
Nice inside

Looks a little rougher from the outside than the pictures show, but seemed pretty new on the inside. Overall, it was good & did the job for the night we stayed. The man at check-in/out was very nice & pleasant. We would probably stay here again if we need a room in Berkeley.
Sabrina Carpenter rocked me like a hurricane!
