This is a very impressive building with a pleasant entrance hall leading to a massive room which looked as if it may have been used as a lounge/ballroom in days of old but now used as a lounge with bar. The dining room is a little small for the number of people using it for breakfast, but the staff were efficient and friendly and quickly cleared tables for the next guests. We did have one evening meal in the restaurant which was very enjoyable if a little expensive. Our bedroom was in a newer block but it was big enough for us and had a pleasant view from the window.
The Hotel is in a perfect location close to Southampton and the New Forest.

Wonderful location for Southampton and the New Forest . Delightfully located in beautiful grounds with walks and a lake full of waterlillies. Friendly staff giving one a warm welcome. Clean well presented room with good wifi that actually works reliably. One of the best breakfasts we have had with an excellent choice. An excellent spa with pool. Lovely views from room. We would not hesitate to return again. A credit to the staff and management.

Quick check in though I think it would have been better to be informed of when and where breakfast was served, where the pool was. We were not told of any of this. The room was clean and warm. Provision of toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel was very clean. Staff friendly. Evening meal very good although very pricey for what you got (we were on a deal where the evening meal was included so this was very good). Buffet breakfast. Lovely grounds plenty to explore. Close to Southampton if you want to visit. Would definitely return.

The hotel is situated in a quiet location in the immediate vicinity of the Science Park of the University of Southampton, with amazing gardens and magnificent trees which really are worth exploring. We stayed for only one night and got a really great deal booking directly with the hotel and so really have little negative to say for the price we paid. We had a comfortable, clean room and all the usual amenities we now come to expect were provided. We slept really well as it is away from any main roads so no traffic noise. Whilst the room was nice, the reception area and bar don't have much of a welcoming ambience and bar snacks etc were a little pricey, but it is a hotel so only to be expected. We had breakfast in the dining room, which again lacked ambience, but there was a good choice, although the cup of tea from the flask left a little to be desired - much prefer a pot of tea on the table. Staff were OK and helpful.

We stayed here on a cruise stay and park package.
Cost included hotel, parking, transfers by taxi to and from the port, breakfast, late checkout and complimentary tea and coffee until you left.
Service was ok, no one went the extra mile.
We had a standard room, I think if we stayed again we would upgrade as the room was quite small.
The grounds were very pleasant for a stroll.
