What People are saying

Lovely hotel, great location

Roy_Lincolnshire_UK on 12/11/2017 23:17

Ok, so I didn't look at reviews for this hotel till I decided to write this. This is a lovely, busy hotel in a great location. Good parking, impressive and inviting lobby and courteous, efficient staff created a great first impression. The closeness of the tram station made it ideal for our venture into central Manchester which was a bonus.

Given the ridiculous prices of some hotels in the area for an overnight stay (including some 'chain' motels/hotels) I would say this gem is a bargain. I really can't understand where some of the 'tired' or 'needing renovation' comments come from. For an overnight stay particularly you want a warm, clean and comfy room and that is what you get. If you are going to grumble about insignificancies then pay more.

This hotel is great, prices reasonable both for rooms and the VERY comfy bar. I didn't try the food but what I saw looked good.

Overall an experience I will be happy to repeat.

Warm and friendly greeting on arrival and quick and easy check in. Large room, well appointed. Nice and quiet hotel, even with an event going on. Didn't hear any of my fellow guests. Huge plus for me is the fact that this hotel chain allows dogs to stay over too.
Fabulous breakfast the following morning, again the waiting staff were all friendly and attentive.
Check out just as friendly as when I arrived.
Highly recommended.

Reasonable

It was quite a bit more expensive than last time I stayed here - £85 for the room and another £13 for full breakfast. Continental only breakfast is £9. The breakfast choice was good and it was handy that it started at 6:30am. There is a very large free car park. Altrincham town centre is a short walk away.

The hotel is generally smart and has two separate eating areas. The restaurant is a bit pricey but serves interesting and creative dishes. The bar serves a more modest menu and also shows any football that's on.

The room was smart and clean. It had en suite, good tv, hot drinks facilities and an alarm clock. There is free Wi-Fi but it was a bit patchy.

Needs work or a price drop

The reception and bar are very welcoming and well decorated, but once you head upstairs to the bedrooms that theme ends! The bedrooms and corridors all seem a bit tired and basic, although not inadequate if you are wanting to travel on a budget.

The room I was given was above the kitchen extractor fans (or similar) so was noisy, and as the window had been left open it was cold - with no way to heat it up.

Parking was poor with narrow spaces crammed in, and so many of them unusable because of cars partly in their adjacent space.

Breakfast was poor quality and not worth getting up for. Considering that this hotel is supposed to be convenient for Manchester Airport breakfast opens late at 0630 - when similar brands near airports often open around 0400. I had paid more for breakfast and had to rush to eat low quality food - not worth it!

Finally on checking out I was requested to pay even though I already had. After looking confused when questioned the receptionist said "oh no that's another room" even though I'd given my room nunber and confirmed my name. Very helpful.

I would come back if it decided to be a budget hotel and charge accordingly, but I'd want a real saving for the poor quality I have received! On the whole, probably worth avoiding.

Lovely hotel, definitely recommended

This is a great hotel. Entering the lobby with all the christmas decorations was great and very impressive. The staff member on reception as very friendly and welcoming. We had a twin room which was slightly on the small side but it was ok. Nicely decorated and good amenities.
I only found three downsides with this hotel. The mirror behind the door makes you look 10 feet wide so we tried not to look in it. The car park spaces are very small and some customers parked over 2 spaces which was really annoying. I recommend parking around the back as spaces are straight instead of diagonal and there more spaces. And personally we felt the breakfast at £15 was too expensive. We had the continental which was also expensive but was very nice and a good selection.
Overall, i did love this hotel and would definitely recommend it.
