We stayed for 4nights at the Olympia Hotel. The room was very nice and exceptionally clean. Towels changed every day if you left them in the shower. The room was like a suite, with desk, chair and lovely settee. Our room overlooked the canal where the gondolas parked. The breakfast was excellent every morning. The staff were all very friendly and even handed our room key to us as soon as we walked through the door, we didn't have to ask! A nice touch!
The hotel is situated right near the bus and train stations. Be prepared to walk a lot!! but the hotel was right in the centre of everything. For our return we brought a bus ticket for 8euros which took us back to Marco Polo airport. We are already planning our next visit.
Great value hotel and close to transport

This hotel is a short walk from the train station and the water taxi. The hotel was on a canal where several gondolas were docked overnight. We enjoyed watching the gondoliers getting their gondolas ready in the morning before they left for work. Our rooms were larger than we have come to expect in Venice. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was good.

This hotel is only about 200 yds from Piazza Roma(taxis) and a short walk from the train station and to the cruise pier. The buffet breakfast is definitely worth the fee and the staff are very helpful. They have a family room that sleeps 4 - actually 2 rooms with an internal door - a large double bed and a single in one section and a single in the other. Stayed 3 nights before a cruise in October and would definitely stay there again.

I researched months before our arrival and found good reviews about this hotel near the train station. We did not want to deal with spending time figuring out the transportation with luggage but did want to stay in Venice. We were not disappointed.
We arrived by train from Florence and found the hotel within walking distance from the train station in Piazza Roma. You will have to go over one large bridge and two small ones. However, after that you can drop your bags and start enjoying Venice.
We were greeted by a friendly staff. He asked if we needed directions and quickly pulled a map and showed us how to get around. We were given vouchers for a welcome drink and a bellhop walked us to our room.
I thought I initially wanted a canal view room but after seeing our room overlooking the garden, I realized it was actually very nice to view this tranquil setting. The canal in front of the hotel is small with not much going on. They also give you mosquito repellant in case you decide to open the windows overnight. This is a reality given the canals and still warm weather in October. We opted for air conditioning and slept comfortably.
We settled in and used our vouchers to enjoy proseccos at the tables outside the hotel along the canal and plan the rest of the day.
Day 1 we decided to walk and meet friends by the Rialto bridge. There are sign's along street corners up high to guide you to St Marks, Rialto and Ferrovia. We walked back that night following Ferrovia signs. Personally, I found this better than following my numerous maps.
Day 2, we enjoyed a really nice breakfast of cappuccinos, fruit, eggs, croissants, bacon etc. They also had prosecco for breakfast so we made a mimosa! After, we purchased a day pass and jumped on the #2 Vaporetto across from the hotel in Piazza Roma. This ride was packed with locals and tourists but took us all the way to St. Mark's square along the Grand Canal and later in the day to Murano. We rode it back at night and it was convenient to just step off the Vaporetto and walk a few minutes to our hotel.
Going to the airport was easy, we walked across to Piazza Roma and used the ATVO Airport express to Marco Polo. The hotel has schedules and will answer any questions as it can be confusing with all the buses that arrive there. It was only 8 euros and 20 minutes to the terminal.
The convenience of staying at this comfortable hotel paid off. Our friends stayed at a central hotel but had to deal with the logistics of getting themselves and luggage around. Finally, if you have time, enjoy a coffee or drink in the garden. I wish we had more time, it was really tranquil and pretty.
Great hotel and location, close to transport. Friendly staff.
