Nice place having a Belgium beer

Stayed in Bouillon for one night together with 7 friends in a Norwegian beer club, hunting for good beers. After having visited the castle, we took a different way back to our hotel and decided to stop at the cozy cafe of Hotel La Porte de France. The furniture and localities were really nice, and of course the beer tasted really good.
Not what it used to be........

This used to be one of the better hotels in Bouillon (a village I keep coming back to because of a good experience a long time ago, but which I will probably now avoid as the whole place has gone downhill).
We had driven from Italy so were ready for a sit down and maybe a nap. On entering our room we immediately had a bad feeling - not surprising as the room had not been made up. We asked for a change of room only to be told the hotel was full and they would need to phone a cleaner. She told us to come back in an hour. The owner was in the lobby at the time and could have dealt with it but decided not to involve himself, rather let the young girl bear the brunt of our obvious displeasure. There was no offer of even a drink and a sit down so we went back out into the cold and rain in search of a more accommodating bar.
When we got back the room had been done but still didn't raise our spirits - we were put in mind of a typically out of date French one star.
We needed to leave reasonably promptly in the morning though breakfast officially started quite late at 8.00 a.m. We sat down at about 5 minutes past and got some food at which point the cleaner turned up with bucket and mop and started doing the floor!
As it turned out, the breakfast provision was really dreadful - the cheapest and nastiest ingredients, dreadful coffee and a croissant which must have been weeks old it was so stale.
We were happy to leave and get on the road. As I intimated, Bouillon is nowadays really depressing but this hotel stands out as an extra low point. What is the man thinking of.
Atroce - Appalling

No words can begin to describe how exceptionally unpleasant this hotel and its horrendous proprietor are. It is an unpleasant Belgian version of Fawlty Towers. Only go to this hotel if you are a masochist. Smelly bedrooms. Poky hotel. TVs that don't work. Appalling breakfast, cold food or reheated food from previous days. There are better hotels in Bouillon, even if eccentric like Hotel de la Poste. Be warned. I've posted some photos
A stop en route from the Alps to Zeebrugge. Stayed 2 nights and toured the Ardenne

The room was good, with en suite facilities. Breakfast was very good on both mornings of our stay. The beds were comfortable. Note the hotel closes for a half day on Wednesday the week we stayed and there are is no bar or dining on this afternoon/evening. There are several other places to eat nearby. Ideal for visiting Bouillon or the Ardenne Region. We travelled by motorcycle there are no secure parking facilities for motorcycles.
Poor

Stayed 1 single night - Luckily. Small room with dirty wallpaper poor bathroom and virtually no facilities. The staff were quite friendly. The cost is ridiculous for the standards of the hotel. NOT recommended.
