Good hotel in lovely setting

Helpful and friendly staff who try to accommodate all requests. Noise can be an issue with doors slamming, and some rooms need an overhaul. However, very convenient for city centre in a quiet location.
Reception ... hospitality? Nope.

A lovely old building which should house a wonderful atmospheric hotel.
On arrival I was greeted by a fast talking overly slick disinterested female. She reeled off all the details and was just not warm and welcoming.
The room service order was wrong on the first night and nothing really improved. The service at the carvery in the bar restaurant was just awful. Slow and ill mannered. When I queried it was told that the chef 'had other things to do in the kitchen'. Not impressed. If a carvery is offered then the chef needs to be there to carve and nothing should be more important than a customer. We spoke to the manager who said he was new and would deal with it. The meal that went wrong was refunded but I really do get very fed up with there always being something wrong!
Good food, great staff.

Had a single night here whilst traveling on business. I had a requirement for a Ground Floor room with easy access to my car. All of this was sorted out with the minimum of fuss allowing me to sample the delights of the Pub menu and the Gin selection! Cant praise this place enough.
handily placed

we have stayed here 4 times now and have never been disappointed. Good for football trips in east anglia or the bedfordshire area. a bit pricey but the rooms are spacious and clean. there is also a pool and gym. the huntly restaurant is posh nosh good quality. 2 miles from centre so easy to walk direct or along the river (45mins)
Poor value, rooms dated

Stayed here 1 night for a work meeting. Room was very dated, bathroom needs refurb. Breakfast bland and certainly not worth the extra £15 I was charged - shocking that there was no butter, only margarine ( Peterborough being in the heart of the agricultural community) At checkout no-one asked if my room was ok or if I enjoyed my stay etc. Poor service, poor value. Shame as it's a lovely old building in parts.
