Good hotel with nice location

Nevertheless the fact that we had a rather bad start where we could not get in the hotel at 11.30 PM, even at a point we had to call the police, I still find this hotel a good place to stay when you are in Aalst. The rooms are much bigger than the ones at Ibis, which we stayed before, and the location in the center of the city is just great. They offer parking, so no worries about the car.

My review will not fit into a 'normal' category, as I was forced to stay in Aalst, Belgium because my husband in intensive care in one of the city's hospitals. Best Western Premier Keisershof Hotel saved my sanity and my life. I would like to thank Jan de Clercq (foremost) and also Maaike, Marino, Siegrid and Gunther for making my existence in a foreign country so agreeable. The staff were expert in accommodating my wishes(including one for a wheelchair on Sunday night), using their upmost diplomatic skills( I had members of family and friends arriving any time of day and night to see my husband, sedated in the hospital) and being so humane - I was told by the hospital that my husband would die twice during my stay at the best Western Premier Keizershof. Just one illustration: when it became obvious that my husband will have to spend Christmas and New Year 2017 at the hospital, the hotel made a special, wonderful Christmas decoration, which was put into my room. Thank you to the bar staff, who worked very hard and the lovely cleaner, called Rosie, who told me to have courage, no matter what the hospital prediction were. My husband was transported back to England by an ambulance and had a very long time recovering, as he was suffering from numerous complications. Only now, six months after my eventful stay in the Best Western I've got time to write a review and thank the hotel, which was exceptional in every respect. The Best Best Western in Europe! PS Environmental rooms are wonderful, as they are next to a small gym and have got a very good wooden flooring

Basic things done well but lacks finesse...

Have stayed in this hotel a few times and it's a basic hotel that does the basic things well but somehow leaves a lot to be desired. Well located very close to the centre of Aalst the welcome was fine although I was in a rush to get to my room and the key didn't work first time around (grrrrr). Next issue came when I wanted to pay for my late lunch rather than put it on my room. I tried to pay in the bar but was told I had to go to reception. The one staff member was busy so it took an age to complete a simple transaction (grrrr again).

The room was functional and clean and shower good. The gentleman who looks after the bar in the evening is very welcoming and professional. Otherwise not much to say except when in the hotel itself it feels like you are trapped in the 90's. Advise a stay of 2 nights max. Breakfast was adequate without being spectacular. Wifi included and worked well.

The best thing about this Hotel - The Staff.

I came here on a business trip, and was instantly surprised at how drab and bland the inside looked. Furnishings and decors seemed to pre-date the nineties. I didn't expect such standards from a Best Western Hotel. In every encounter with staff however I found them to be most helpful, polite and friendly. The room was mostly clean, but there were some annoying minor problems like:
1) No bottled water in the room,
2) The electric kettle cable was too short to be plugged in and needed to be placed on the floor.
3) The electric kettle needed to be filled with water from tap in bathroom
4) No milk in the coffee or tea condiments
5) Empty boxes for some of the personal hygiene accessories
6) No shower curtain to prevent the floor getting wet.
7)The trouser press barely worked.

It was small details like this that gave me a poor opinion of the Hotel in general. It's saving grace was the always polite and attentive staff. Otherwise I would of scored this Hotel much lower than the 3 stars I gave it.
