If I could give ten stars to Blanket Bay I would. My husband and I came here for the first four days of our two week long honeymoon and it was actually the most affordable out of all of the hotels we stayed in but was by FAR the highest in quality. I don't even know where to begin!!
Service/Staff: Out of all of the amazing things I have to say about Blanket Bay my number one would be the staff here. I had been communicating with Damien weeks before our arrival figuring out what types of excursions we wanted to go on! Literally an hour after we arrived we were whisked away on an amazing helicopter tour right from the front lawn! I felt like a movie star. And then no matter how many times we changed our minds about what we felt like doing he was ALWAYS accommodating and did absolutely everything for us. I didn't have to book anything. He even arranged for the porters to put complimentary mountain bikes in our car in case we wanted to go on a bike ride! My husband and I still joke about how much we wish we could still call Damien to help with everything in our lives!
When you get to Blanket Bay you quickly realize that there are more staff members than actual guests (there are only 13 rooms I believe). It was the most personal attention I have ever received at any hotel/resort, EVER! Deb was the most amazing bartender, by the end of our time there she was making up drinks for us based on what style we had previously liked and they were some of the best cocktails I've ever had!! And she knew her wine pairings better than most sommeliers! Joshua was the most attentive waiter and I felt so lucky to have had him with us each dinner! We asked for ginger tea the first night and he proceeded to bring us a fresh pot every night after dinner without even asking :D
Food: Think Michelin quality in the most beautiful setting for breakfast and lunch every single day. Five course dinners with the most amazing and unique recipes and ingredients! I think I gained five pounds in the four days that we stayed here because I had to eat every single bite served.
Location: It was so nice to be away from the tourist trap of Queenstown! Blanket Bay is a beautiful 45 minute drive away and is literally right next to all the best outdoor activities. We even went skydiving with the company based right next door.
Overall I couldn’t recommend Blanket Bay enough. I came home and immediately told all my friends and family they HAVE to go. I’m trying to plan a trip back as soon as possible!

One night there during our honeymoon trip: the best ever we had! The room and the scene view we had was beyond words. Glenorchy sounds like heaven there. A special word for the best employee we met: Joshua. He created great cocktails just for us and was so kind and gentle! Thank you for this great souvenir: hope we'll be able to come back one day

My wife and I had the good fortune to stay at Blanket Bay for two nights in October. We were greeted by a delightful hostess at the car park. She gave us a tour and history of the property before showing us to our upgraded room...a fabulous, huge corner room with a fireplace, huge patio and the most amazing view of the lake and the Southern Alps you can imagine. Dinner was included and the food and service was unparalleled. The game room with pool, shuffleboard, darts, large flat screen TV and self help bar was also a nice touch...as was the spa room. We have stayed in some pretty nice places around the world, but Blanket Bay has become number one on the list.

Blanket Bay was a beautiful lodge, set in an even more beautiful environment. We stayed in one of the private chateaus and couldn't be more comfortable if we tried. The property is set well off of the main road, through a gorgeously designed landscape and adjacent to an amazing part of the lake. The chateaus were stunning, with tall ceilings, a gorgeous fireplace, and beautiful wood throughout. Heated floors, towels, and a steam shower accompany this slice of paradise.
The food and service were top notch. I'd recommend anyone take advantage of the included breakfasts, cocktails, and dinners. I seriously love food, and it has steered my travels more than anything. I can tell you the food here is not something to overlook.
If the lodge itself weren't enough to persuade you, the setting in Glenorchy cannot be beat by anything in Queenstown. In fact, the drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, and it's all a glorious part of the experience. Take it all in, eat well, and rest easy knowing you're one of only a well-informed few staying at Blanket Bay.

We went for a relaxing stay and were lucky to strike snow which made the vistas even more fantastic.
Great service and the food and wine knowledge was excellent.
We were unable to fault any aspect
A true luxury lodge!
