Staff helpful, tho the rooms are quiet small, it has AC ,fridge and safe which for me is a must have for hotels.
Close to most sights and metro stations and trains.
It is a bargain as its close to e erything.
Their breakfast has a lot of choices and quite lovely.
I eoyld come back again while in Lisbon.

Quaint hotel at the top of a hill with an amazing staff, comfy beds and sweet bar. It's a close walk to the center of the city with lots to do in the area. The check in and check out was easy and seamless and they had fresh squeezed juice as a welcome. The staff does speak English if your Portuguese is non-existent like mine. :) You would not need a car to get around, but the hill is sorta steep so travelers need to be able to handle that.

In addition to all the things noted in previous reviews about clean room, good location though up a hill (what isn't in Lisbon?), nice breakfast, I'd like to emphasize the helpful staff. They referred us to the excellent laundromat, Cheir a Lisboa, a block or two away. You could get your load of laundry done immediately, or come back for it hours or days later. We had some complications with our train to Madrid; the man at the front desk made the phone call to the train station for us to try to figure out what was going on.

This is a basic, basic, basic hotel. Our room had two twin beds, tv, small desk, mini fridge, safe, and bath. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had cold cuts and cheeses, eggs, sausages, cereal, fruit, yogurt, breakfast breads, juice, coffee, and probably a few more things. The staff were friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile and a 'bom dia' as we passed the front desk. The location is really good for people who like to walk places, which my wife and I are. Bario Alto is just up the hill, old Lisbon is a short walk away. We had a great time in Lisbon and Hotel Botanico was a clean, comfortable, friendly home base.

We stayed 5 nights. It is located about 10 minutes from the metro stop at the top of a hill, something you should know if you are pulling luggage. Super friendly front desk. Great location in comparison to the main attractions near the river. We rented a car for the last three days and were able to park in front of the hotel, though the spots are limited, 7 I believe. We were lucky.
