Great place to eat in Norwich

This is a small and cosy restaurant who have high standards of both food and service. It is great for lunches or evening meals because it is in the city centtre, not too large and even when it is full, not overcrowded. Having eaten in many places in Norwich I would rate this one very highly. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that, being small, the menu was a little limited, however, everything which was on the menuu was well presented and tasty. Highly recommended, lovely staff and lovely environment.
Excellent food, perfect portion sizes but a little tight for space

We started with one dish of Pheasant served with Cognac, chestnuts & cacao and a dish of Roasted Cauliflower with curried grapes, white wine reduction & cauliflower couscous. For our mains we both chose Roasted Breast of Gressingham Duck with confit leg fritter, baby beetroot, cranberry crumble, curly kale, sweet sherry and anise reduction. Each plate looked beautiful, tasted delicious and the attention to detail was a delight. The wine list is very good too and we had no trouble selecting a very well-priced bottle of Burgundy to accompany the excellent food. The only downside is that the dining area is very small and we were unfortunate enough to be seated next to a very noisy table which did detract from the experience.
Relaxing Lunch

We have visited Bishops before, but this time we used a voucher which we received for a present. I booked in advance online as this little restaurant is very popular. Parking is required in one of the city car parks and the restaurant is located on a slight incline(note for elderly people). As always we were warmly greeted by the owner and shown to our table.
The lunch menu was varied but not over complicated, with around four choices in each category. We went for three courses, as the portion sizes are not large, just enough. The atmosphere was cosy, the service polite and friendly and the food and wine delicious. We have also visited in the evening with the atmosphere slightly more formal. This is a great central restaurant to meet for all occasions with friends, couples or celebrations, but one piece of advice is you must pre book..... speaks volumes wouldn't you agree?!
Delicious food

A second visit was not a disappointment. The food is delicious, the portions are small but that is fine for me as it leaves room for a dessert. It was a little quiet, only two tables occupied, but it was Halloween so I think people were elsewhere that night. Service is efficient and friendly. Would return for a third visit if in Norwich again.

Wonderful food (always is) - this time I enjoyed venison starter and for main salt baked celeriac and gnocchi . Desert was pear tart served with cinnamon ice cream . The portions sizes are not huge enabling me to sample the 3 courses which is a bonus as there is always a lovely and varied choice. Simply it’s perfection for food and ambiance . I have been to this restaurant many times and can not fault it . I cannot recommend it highly enough for date night , dinner or lunch with family or friends . . It’s just perfect !
