Never staying there again.

I've stayed there many times, but its gone downhill and there are lots of better options. I called early in the morning of my last reservation to cancel because of a medical emergency, and they refused to refund the $206.01 (terrible 48-hour cancellation policy). They even told Discover that I never called them, they held the room all night, and I never showed up. Thanks Lisa - you are a real star. Next time check the facts with your employee. How about calling your good customer to confirm the situation?
Rooms plagued by roaches, hotel dirty, and management do not care

This place is a total filthy dump that is plagued by roaches and the management does not care to resolve your concerns when you notify them of the problem, stay away! My husband and I stayed here for three nights the weekend following Labor Day in September 2017. On the morning of the second day, I saw a small black beattle-like bug crawling under the bathroom vanity area, which I just assumed had come up from the bathroom vanity piping because there was as gap between the piping and the tile floor and so there was a small space in the floor that was open and I thought that the bug had crawled up from there. I killed the bug and we went out for sightseeing, putting this behind me and not thinking of it again. I was 28 weeks pregnant at the time and we were traveling for a "babymoon" vacation, last vacation alone before baby arrives. Well, that night I woke up around 2 am, as most pregnant women frequently do during the night to use the restroom, and as I was about to place my feet onto the carpeted floor, I look down and see another of the exact same insects crawling across the rug. I quickly realize that it wasn't a beattle, but instead a breed of smaller size roach. I killed it and by this point was totally disturbed, realizing that the room was invested with roaches. I went to the front desk around 2 a.m. because I could obviously not sleep with live roaches all around me, and was offered a room just about 3-4 doors down from where our current room was. I believe that problem was due in part to the fact that our room was so close to the kitchen for the breakfast continental serving, we were literally about 10 feet away from the kitchen prep area. When I asked for a room on the 2nd floor so that we could be further away from the kitchen area and hence the roaches, I was told that because I had booked by room on hotels.com that they could not give me a room on the 2nd floor because there were none on the 2nd floor that had two double beds. They were more concerned about maybe losing $10 a night in room charge so they had no problem in giving me a new room literally 15 feet away from the first room. Now since it was past 2 in the morning and I am very pregnant and tired, we took it. So we moved our stuff into the new room past 2 in the morning. As soon as we get into the second room, my husband went to use the bathroom. He called me into the bathroom to show me that there was another roach now in this room, although this one was dead. I have attached photos of the dead roach below. I went back to the front desk and asked for another room but was told again because I booked on hotels.com that they couldn't give me a room on the 2nd floor and this was the best she could do until the morning manager came on site. She also admitted to me that they had a roach problem and that they had just sprayed for it about 2 weeks prior. I proceeded not to be able to sleep at all that night. When the main manager of the hotel came on during the morning shift, she did not call me, contact me, or even look at me or apologize when I passed her in the main lobby area during the rest of our stay. She was as coward and a nasty woman and could care less that they gave us two rooms plagued by vermin. I would have left but they were unwilling to do anything but give us a $100.00 refund off of what we paid for room, which was about $500.00. So out of money and with an offered refund of less than the cost of one night hotel stay, we finished our stay there but would never return again or recommend this place to anyone. Bottom line is that they provided us with two rooms and both were plagued by vermin and roaches and they didn't care. They are nothing but money hungry, greedy owners and managers that run a dirty, unsanitary business establishment that also needs to be renovated - the place has not been touched since the 1980's and it shows. I would never stay here again and recommend to you that you don't either. I think I will contact the PA Board of Health or multiple dwelling / hotels division to report them.
Don't know if it ever was much; it sure isn't now

Hard to find registration at night (last building in a cluttered lot of event spaces, florists, etc.) Front desk staff curt. Irritating to be sent back out to car (in rain) to put tag on dash so they don't tow car away -- why not ask for your license plate like every other hotel? Very small room -- though advertised as "Queen bed, seating area, sleep sofa" was in fact a double bed and a fold out chair/loveseat thing thing that my 6 foot son had to fold himself onto. peeling wallpaper. water stains on bathroom ceiling. A depressing property. No charm.
Works well

Stayed here two nights while visiting Brandywine Valley. It is an older facility, a bit on the tired side. The bedding was comfy, room clean. Breakfast marginal, staff functional and efficient. Limited electrical outlets. Location great for our interests!
Anniversary trip

Quaint little hotel. Good location, several restaurants within a 3-5 minute walk. Room was nice. Front desk clerk was very nice. Continental breakfast was sparse. The only problem was that it was one of the worst nights I've had in a hotel in a long time. Apparently the AC was out and it was miserably hot. The clerk offered a fan, which just moved the hot air around. They offered a 25% discount on my next visit. If they really wanted me to return they should have taken 25% off my bill.
