What People are saying

chill out

james b on 12/11/2017 09:56

i have stayed at nearly all brittania hotels but this one is my favourite if you want to chill out there are no colour schemes times to eat like the royal court the rooms are not bad he staff are helpful and are pretty relaxed well maybe there are a few workers stop there but who cares the people who run this place know what they are doing and are to be congratulated on doing a good job the menu is excellent with a four star chef and the great thing is you feel like you have had a holiday ....great......

Could be better.

Have just come back from a coach tour staying at this Hotel.I found the hotel needs refurbishment. My room was number 44 which I found rather dirty. There was dark black hairs in the plughole.Carpets were dirty and stained.I went to plug the fridge cooler in and the plug sockets, carpet skirting boards were thick with dust,so too were the light fittments over the bed. There were stains on the chairs which made me feel that I didn't really want to sit down on them. The bed was quite comfortable and the sheets were clean, shower good, plenty hot water. The breakfast was good, plenty selection of cooked and cereals and toast with marmalade and jams.Food was lovely and hot.The bar was good, there was Happy Hour five till seven o,clock, barman was really good at his job.Reception and Waiting Staff were all pleasant. The toilets near the bar and reception were quite disgusting, toilets were brown stained apart from a couple as you go in the toilets.A little bit of bleach wouldn't go amiss. All in all the hotel does it's best but I feel that the cleaning department has let them down big time.A bit more training in accommodation cleaning would bring this up to a better standard.Yes you could say that it is a cheap hotel but there are standards that you would expect.

Cheap and cheerful

Hotel is budget and cheap with no frills but us okay. Staff very pleasant, food basic and nice enough if you pick the right thing. Rooms are clean and comfortable but could do with modernisation however fine if all you want is to sleep in it. Overall an okay place for a night or two and you basically get what you pay for and can’t really expect more for that cost.

Cheap but not great value

The good bits : Comfortable bed, very pleasant shower and a good dinner

and the bad: Irritating sensor mat at entrance rings a chime every time anyone exits or enters, imaging the racket when a coachload of tourists stood there waiting to be booked in, the noise went on and on and is heard clearly in bar and restaurant
Glass in room was filthy yet had been set alongside another for us to use
Window lock broken
Rooms are pokey, and not the ones illustrated on website
Breakfast buffet cold

Fabulous hotel and staff

I stayed here during a coach holiday from the 9th till the 13th October. I was originally with my sister but during the early morning of the following day my sister was rushed to hospital. The receptionist Rachel, was fabulous phoning for an ambulance for my sister, Everytime I returned to the hotel from the hospital the staff always wanted to know how my sister was. The bar man Stuart was also fantastic, I think he could see the stress I was under and went out of his way to make me smile. When I returned from the hospital on the day my sister was admitted Rachel went in the kitchen and personally made me a plate of sandwiches as I’d Had nothing to eat..... My sister was dangerously ill and if it wasn’t for the phone call they made for me that day, my sister wouldn’t be here now... I can say that the hotel was exceptionally clean and the meals were excellent. But I will never be able to thank them enough for what they did for my sister on the 10th October, without their help my sister wouldn’t be here. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart
