What People are saying

What a building!

Dave V on 19/11/2017 21:01

Superb location, a building to last in the memory for ever. Exceptional room with all that was advertised and 5 star facilities. Restaurant within the building, swimming pool and gym. Even in November when we visited the garden is well worth a stroll and there are woodland walks as well. Our only small criticism is that there was no assistance with bags and some large staircases to negotiate

Very nice suite, well furnished and comfortable

Anne T on 17/11/2017 20:27

This was my second visit to Broome Park and although the stairs were a bit of a climb it was good to be at the front of the wonderful Stately House, overlooking the golf course.
The suite contained everything to make for a comfortable visit, well furnished and spotlessly clean.

How grand!

quilwils on 07/11/2017 11:03

Set in many acres and golf course this very grand house owned most famously by Lord Kitchener until his demise in the First World War. Beautifully kept grounds and an enormous main hall with 2 huge fireplaces. An amazing room with many interesting features and panelling. Booked in speedily and off to our suite. O dear, two/three flights of stairs. Could have done with a lift or a porter as we're not as young as we were. Lovely spacious suite with original stone windows overlooking the front and countryside. Double aspect lounge with limited kitchen area. All nicely fitted. Big bedroom with lots of storage although my pet hate are those fiddly hangers which cannot be removed. Why do they always insist I'm going to run of with there hangers! Night storage heaters and lots of electric heaters as well (after all it is November). Very quiet, probably not to suitable for noisy families. On site restaurant. Looking forward today to tea and cakes round one of the roaring fires on the huge settees I the reception hall. Diamond resorts have a programme of events for you but we just want to explore the Kent countryside and coast. As the house is in the centre of Kent you can easily get around in all directions. Yesterday we visited Whitstable, Tankerton (visit the cafeteria on the front - a classic greasy spoon with a good line in breakfasts, popular with locals and dog owners); Deal and on to Reculver where we had an excellent lunch at old pub. Cross country through tiny roads back to Broome. Looking forward to more relaxing days. Wifi available and they try hard to get you on with instructions in the room. But can be a bit hit and miss. All in all this is slightly dated but very impressive house and grounds complete with swimming pool and gym for the energetic. If you want something a bit out of the ordinary then this is for you.

Beautiful Grounds and lovely cabins.

Kim D on 28/10/2017 10:25

A lovely mansion built in 1635 was bought in the early 1930's when the mansion was transformed into a hotel. It is now a golf and country club. We are not rich people, but we got a good deal on one of the cabins and we were more than delighted. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything that you would need. The house was tastefully decorated and even included a washer/dryer. We wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed walking around the grounds and enjoying the lounge in the mansion which had a most beautiful dining room. Lovely all around!

Excellent property, except when they have a private dinner or a wedding

MarySanDiego on 27/10/2017 20:31

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely mansion. The beautiful setting and accommodations were excellent. The staff were wonderful and we appreciated the location because it was rural but close to everything we wanted to visit in Kent. However, we encountered significant problems during our stay there.

On our Friday evening there, we waited over an hour for our food after placing our order in the small on-site restaurant, which was mostly empty. It turned out that there was a very large private group dining in a separate room that evening, and the kitchen clearly couldn't handle everything. Lodge guests were put second behind a group that had booked for a special event dinner. If we'd been told when we sat down that due to a large private dinner party there would be a long delay in getting our food, we could have gone down the road to a pub and not wasted an hour and finished eating at 10pm.

On our Saturday night there, Broome was the venue for a wedding (an afternoon ceremony that we were told took place at 2:00pm). Apparently, they do a lot of this -
there is a huge white tent at the back of the property, DIRECTLY below our second story window. (See photo.) When we got back to our room at 8pm after a long day of touring, the music coming from the tent was so loud that we couldn't think, read, or play a card game. After a while, we went to the lobby desk and spoke with the night staff. They explained that their contracts allow music until midnight. When my husband checked with a decibel meter app at the entrance to the tent, it registered mostly above 90 with frequent spikes over 100. Noise above 90 decibels is considered damaging to hearing. The staff guy went into the tent and asked the DJ to turn the sound down. We heard a very slight lowering of the booming bass in our room, but though we wanted very much to go to sleep at 10pm, we were unable to sleep until the music finally stopped long after that. This left us very tired the next day.

This situation is totally unacceptable. We would give this place an unequivocal "excellent" if not for the problems caused by their operating as an event venue. They should either allow music to continue no later than 10 pm, or get out of the wedding venue business, and they should have additional kitchen staff when they have large private dinner parties. If the kitchen problem is due to too small a kitchen, regardless the number of staff there, then they should advise patrons when there will be a long delay so that they can go someplace else.
