What People are saying

Definitely quirky but ok B & B if you can cope with that

I'd read the reviews so knew that the owner was an interesting character. My confirmation email (via toprooms) said to arrive between 5 and 9pm but when we arrived at 8 we were greeted with "did you get lost" and a firm statement by our host that we should have been there at 6pm! After this slightly unfortunate start we had a reasonable stay. The house is very dated with masses of stuff everywhere and lots of flowery wallpaper, however the rooms were fine if not large and (big plus) we were provided with fresh milk for tea in our rooms. Breakfast was good. It's is quite a long way from the pub so I'd recommend eating beforehand if you don't want to walk a long way. We had a car so drove down to the pub and got a reasonable meal served quite late (which was a plus as many locally stopped at 9pm). The house is slightly tricky to find but when we turned round we found we had missed a small tourist sign pointing to it. The entrance to the drive has a lodge house but I couldn't see a sign on it - the finger post which we missed is on the other side of the road. Overall this place is fine if it's convenient for your trip and you can cope with quirky.

Plenty of character but has seen better days

We had booked here for a night while walking the Offa's Dyke path. We unfortunately missed the turnoff (signage very poor) and walked an extra 2 miles, ending up in pandy!
At least we had a good meal at the Pandy Inn before finally reaching the house.
This is a quirky, very cluttered old country house. Most of our rooms were very basic but adequate, but one single room was dreadful, with brown floor, walls, ceiling and Furnishings No window in this room, light only coming through the door from the bathroom.
Our impression was that the elderly couple who run the house are extremely proud of it and keen to share their knowledge, but they struggle to cope with providing hospitality to weary travellers. Breakfast unforgettable but adequate!

Short break in Pandy

Chose this B&B as well located at a reasonable price for exploring Black Mountains. Friendly hosts brimming with local knowledge proved very helpful in planning our days out. Great breakfast. Room small but perfectly adequate and clean. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Beautiful surroundings

After a little difficulty finding the place, you had to go up a long drive, but well lit once you were near the B&B. The owner was friendly, Informative and knew alot about the history of the building, rightfully so he seemed proud of it, and if it was my place i would be proud too. There was parking near by and free. The room was spacious enough and had wifi so I was happy. They were also a dog friendly B&B, with no extra charge. Abergravanny not too far away if your driving.
The breakfast was lovely, even though he wouldnt make me poached eggs, though he admittedly said he couldnt. and also didnt have baked beans. He knew where his food was sourced from and it was local so that was nice.
The only thing that would be a negative is having to sit with other people for breakfast on the same table, but it fits in with the style of house rather than having seperate tables. how ever it wasnt as awkward as what i thought it would be.

Full of history

This is a friendly b&b with a lot of history and the owners know a lot about it and provide info for exploring yourself.
There is great emphasis on local produce, all breakfast ingredients are sourced locally from the meat and eggs to the jams made by the lady in the next village! They know where everything came from.
They are helpful with maps and menus for your evening meal and it's quiet as peaceful all around.
It's a 15 min walk to a great pub with good food.
The only issue is the very long drive and, although no fault of the owners, the prohibited field that would cut a mile off your walk is quite dispiriting but easily forgotten once you're there!
