A Classic Resort Hidden in the Woods

I have stayed there twice this Spring. Once for one night and the second time for two. I live in Chiang Mai and have traveled about the area for many years. This resort, which consists of only 8 units, is in all regards a real jewel. Where else can you get your own bungalow complete with an waterfall outside the door and a shower with water falling from the ceiling? The rooms are large and well done. Lots of wood and built in furniture. The grounds are gorgeous. Water flowing everywhere. The included breakfast is above average (no buffets) and service is good. I plan on returning this Fall for a couple more nights of relaxation.
A fantastic resort for couples/honeymooners. you will be treated like royalty

Bura resort is approximately 20 minutes from town and set in the mountains with a rainforest/tropical setting. An ideal place to kick back and relax or even a honeymoon. We got the green bus from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and were picked up by Bura Resort courtesy car. The staff (including the owners wife) bent over backwards to ensure our stay was perfect. The rooms are just gorgeous and a bathroom to die for. We hired a car and the owners wife and a translator(a lovely lady who seems to run the resort named Hannah) took us to every tourist spot you could think of. This included a market as big as 3 blocks (cheap, cheap, cheap) and then took us out for lunch. Because we hadnt covered every place in the one day, they took us again the next morning. The food was just scrumptious and very cheap. Breakfast was included in our booking. They gave us a mobile phone in case we needed anything during the night.Hanna is on call 24 hours.I expected mosquitos but never saw or felt one whilst there. Night is so beautiful as there are lights everywhere around the waterfalls and the days - even though hot, is surprisingly cool.i would suggest if you stay at Bura, then hire a car and u can go anywhere, anytime. Do not hire a bike even if you are an experienced rider. Just too dangerous. There is a lot to see considering where the resort is. One thing we found was that it was very hard to contact the resort(via phone or email) but we found it on agoda. Hannah said to go through expedia but we had no trouble when we went on the agoda sight. I hope that couples out there get to experience this magical place and the charm of the thai people who work there.
Great location and wonderful service

A beautiful place, big room, good food, very polite and wonderful team; Hannah, Kit, Meaw. Great gardening, beautiful water falls.
If you want to run off from the city and busy life, I highly recommend to visit Bura resort.
Sheer beauty - a tropical paradise!

This is an unbelievable place and I'm so glad we booked it. Walking along to our villa, you'd expect Fred or Wilma Flintstone to pop out and say "Hello" but there is nothing primiive about these beautiful dwellings. Our fab deluxe garden villa with wood-sculpted features and large, fully-equipped bathroom and balcony set amongst lush tropical plants was absolutely breathtaking! Wifi was great, especially on balcony, and inside, there was plenty of seating, a comfortable bed, and excellent heavy curtains.
Resort at 20kms from Chiang Rai bus station is quite remote and we had to hire a taxi to take us there. We later discovered it ran a free shuttle service to/from the airport and bus station. The owner, Jazz, organised a private taxi for us for the day so we could visit as many attractions as possible and maximise our stay in this area. Fantastic service from him and assistant, Hannah, though other staff speak little to no English, so if they're not there communication is difficult. During our 3-night stay, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast and dinner in the onsite restaurant. A swimming pool might be a nice addition.
Book it! And relax....

Spent short blissful vacation in the grounds of Bura with my 90-year-old papa. Jazz and team could not have been more helpful. Papa was so pleased despite physical difficulties due to hilly terrain (and steps). This work-of-art/resort offers absolute peace amidst natural sounds, great food - and BBC, TCM plus on TV should you worry about lack of things to do. Extraordinary! Thank you.
