Nicely, attractive carved interior of Houseboat in calm place nagin lake.
Beautiful carved furniture inside houseboat. Butterfly Group Houseboats are in quite calm Nagin Lake, away from crowded Dal Lake, If one has to enjoy quite calm place do visit and stay in Nagin Lake with Butterfly Group House boats.

Please Note this is a review of Shangri-La Houseboat which is a part of Butterfly group of Houseboats.
Rooms were clean and had enough space for additional bed. Rooms didn't had any good views but provides good view from front of the Houseboat and a nice calm sunset can be viewed.
Though I had issues with towels but Bathrooms were very clean and nicely maintained with Water heater for each room. WiFi was not present on this Houseboat. Door handles were broken. Television only at the common room.
Nagin Lake is little far off from the Dal lake and best part is that you don't have to deal with different vendors as in Dal lake. The vehicle can drop directly at the Houseboat unlike in Dal lake where you need a Shikara to reach the Houseboat.
Food and Service:
Ramzan was the person who took care of of all needs for our single night stay and most of the things were taken care of.
Food was good (a bit oily though) and breakfast had limited Indian and continental options.
Beware of agents, like it happened with me and seems like happened with some other travelers as well: They give you accommodation for Butterfly Houseboat (which seems really good) and you land up staying in other Houseboat which will be one of "Butterfly group of Houseboats" and are not as good as the "Butterfly Houseboat".

Very nice houseboat in Nagin Lake, which is much better than Dal Lake. Usually have heard from others that houseboats have smell due to lake water, but this lake and the surrounding of this houseboat did not have any smell at all. The waste water isn disposed in a tank on the ground.
Staff was very good and helpful, the Manager Mr Shafi was also very helpful and caring. Best part was the good food from their kitchen which serves all the houseboats of butterfly group.
Room was nicely maintained, and the living room/lounge was spacious. There are boats available at this houseboat to hire and roam around the houseboat in the calm lake.

It was a great experience in this special houseboat. Unique and well decorated houseboat, every room has it own motif and style. We stayed at the Kashmir Retreat Room and have been upgraded to Super Special Peacock room at the last day - due to some problem of the pipe, but the owner and the staffs were extremely responsible and nice to upgrade us to that special room. Location at the Nigeen Lake is tranquil and really peaceful. We have a great great great time here. Thank you so much.

I was at the Houseboat as a part of group tour last month for a night.
I was in Butterfly , room no 2. There are six rooms in all in this houseboat. All the six rooms are done up differently. Our room was fully carved out of walnut wood and was beautiful. The houseboat is well maintained and bathrooms are also very clean (we were all skeptical as to how the bathrooms would be in a houseboat ). The caretaker of our houseboat, Hamid was very courteous and was always ready to help.
We had a memorable stay ! Will definitely come back to stay here again !
