Best of the Best on Capri!

Nancy D on 08/11/2017 18:13

This hotel exceeded my expectations. We stayed in a suite with a patio that exited onto other areas of the property. We didn't have to go through the hotel to get to the pool, bar, breakfast room, or nooks which overlook the Mediterranean. The restaurant was exceptional. This is an expensive property, but worth it.

One of the Best Hotels I've Ever Stayed In!

Wow this is truly a spectacular property! Built into the clifftop with incredible views over the Bay and Capri, it was an experience of a lifetime and well worth the splurge for a special trip! From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave (warning- you may cry a bit as you won't want to leave!) The service is second to none! Being a family run property the services truly comes from the heart and being a boutique hotel I loved how checkin was outside on the beautiful terrace! I stayed in the Master Suite and it was incredible! The daily brekafast was a huge feast. The dinner was out of this world- one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life! The infinity pool...wow! Simply stunning! Such a romantic hotel with tons of cozy hidden spots for couples to relax and enjoy the stunning views! Huge gardens on property where the chef sources the herbs and veg for the restaurant! If you have time you must book a massage with their outdoor spa with a view! Dream of returning sometime soon!

ANACAPRI

There is capri and then there is Anacapri, Here was the famouse Cesar Augustus hotel.
The view is beautiful. It is very classical. Feels a bit like the Spanish series called El Gran Hotel. You meet the staff quite easily and see them everyday again, very friendly.

a worthy splurge

Incredible hotel high up in the hills in Anacapri with lovely grounds and never ending views. The have their own gardens which is reflected in the foods they serve. Hotel staff was very attentive and warm. We were there at the end of their season so I'm sure it maybe a little different during the busy summer months. We felt very pampered and enjoyed the experience immensely.

One of Our Best Hotel Experiences Ever

TravelLover23456 on 25/10/2017 21:05

It is difficult to describe just how spectacular Caesar Augustus ("CA") is. Let me say first that, in deciding on a hotel on Capri, we narrowed the choice to CA and JK Place. We leaned ever so slightly towards JK until we found a booking.com deal that made CA roughly 35% cheaper than it had been (a deal likely available because our mid-Oct dates were close to the end of Capri's season). At that point, the significant cost difference between the two seemingly-similar-in-quality hotels made CA a no-brainer. In our 3 days on Capri, we never came across JK Place to get a sense of how they compare, but it is tough to imagine that JK or any other hotel on the island is as stellar as Caesar Augustus.

To arrive at the hotel, we took a public ferry from Sorrento to Capri where we were greeted immediately upon stepping foot onto Capri soil by a gracious representative of the hotel, who appeared at the bottom of the gangplank with a cart to carry luggage. There was no question that we were getting the best service of any one on the semi-crowded ferry. The CA rep guided us to a car that, in turn, wisked us away up the mountain to Anacapri. Upon our arrival at the hotel itself, we were warmly greeted by a young staffer, Giuseppe, who has been exceptionally trained. It was remarkable to meet someone so young who knows so much about what to say and what not to say to guests of a five-star hotel. Giuseppe promptly guided us to the terrace which offers what must be THE most stunning view of Capri, the Sorrentine Peninsula, Mt. Vesuvius and all of Naples Bay. Then, with clockwork precision, just as Giuseppe stepped away to process our check-in, we were greeted by Francesco Signorini, CA's extraordinarily charming general manager and owner. On a few occasions in my life I have been greeted by the owner or GM of a hotel, but never quite like this. Francesco could not have been more genuinely welcoming and eager to insure that our stay at CA would be as memorably wonderful as could be. And it was.

After bringing us each a glass of champagne and tending to check-in documentation, Giuseppe gave us time to snap a few pictures of the breath-taking views, and as soon as we were ready to head to our room, he promptly reappeared and took us to our junior suite - cliffside, where our luggage had already arrived.

The room is large (by European standards), extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and includes a spacious balcony that offered us, privately, a stunning view similar to what we soaked in on the hotel's terrace. We were also greeted with our own complimentary bottle of champagne along with an abundant bowl of fresh fruit and a hand-written note welcoming us to CA.

The hotel grounds are as stunning as the views they provide. The large infinity pool is beautiful and inviting, the several restaurants and (indoor and outdoor) lounges are all gorgeous, and the hotel includes a sprawling and scenic garden from which it obtains much of the food prepared on site. The property is not just beautiful for the scenery, it is also extremely clean and very well maintained. This is as beautiful a hotel property as I have ever experienced. (It's worth mentioning that CA allows you, if you're so inclined, to pick your own fruits, vegetables and herbs that you would like served to you at any particular meal.)

My partner raved about the buffet breakfasts each morning, and we dined once at the hotel's main restaurant, La Terrazza di Lucullo, which was memorable for the quality of the food, the service and the view.

Regarding service, every hotel staffer with whom we interacted (and there were quite a few) was ever so gracious, clearly well-trained, and quite skilled at his/her respective job. We had perhaps the most contact with a concierge, Roberta, who could not have been more friendly or more generous with her time. Roberta set us up with instructions and activities that made leaving the property a breeze. One of the many things she did for us is set up a private boat tour around the island that was one of the highlights of our entire trip.

In sum, this is one of the the best hotel experiences we have ever had. The next stop on our trip was Positano, where we stayed at Le Sirenuse, which I think is one of the most famous and celebrated Italian hotels south of Rome. Le Sirenuse is indeed pretty spectacular, but Caesar Augustus is even better. Francesco, Roberta, and Giuseppe, thank you for providing us with an unforgettably wonderful experience on the Isle of Capri.
