Postcard-like experience: what a treat!!

It might be a little off the beaten path but this place is amazing! I just had the most wonderful dinner I could have with every single dish being simply beyond words.
Oysters, fresh tuna tartare, mussels and clams soup, local seafood spaghetti, and a mouth-watering tiramisu made it the best dinner I had during my stay in Cagliari.
I'm definitely going to get back before the end of my trip because I feel I need to try a lot of the other delicacies in the menu.
On top of that, the surroundings are simply unreal. My wife and I just had a spectacular dinner in a terrace only a few meters from the transparent sea - I couldn't imagine a more spectacular scenery than this one!
Nicely situated, little bit dated hotel

The hotel is situated in the Calamosca bay with a very nice see view. The hotel also has a private beach with a garden where you can relax and enjoy the view and the sea.
The hotel itself is dated, and in need of refurbishment.
Rooms are clean, on the small side and very basic.
The hotel personnel is very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was a little bit disappointing, a very basic continental breakfast with cake and Italian cookies.
The a la carte restaurant offers a very decent and tastt lunch and dinner with Italian/Sardinian specialties
All in all we enjoyed our stay at hotel Calamosca
Cheese famine of 2017

Great sea view, reasonably priced hotel. Breakfast not for the English! Who runs out of cheese everyday by 9 am? This hotel does. Sounds like a small thing , so fix it. Buy more cheese!! Maybe even go mad and boil some eggs or have a few tomatoes? Show willing Mr Hotel Owner. You have a hotel in an amazing location. Don't spoil it for a ha'peth of breakfast! !
Great hotel stuff and great sea view

The hotel stuff at the reception (others as well) is great. We made a mistake when booking our room. They did (actually he: one middle age gentlemen at the reception) everything to change our room with a better one (in high season), the one we actually wanted to have when we booked. The new room (ground floor) with sea view was great. The restaurant is good, nearby there is a nice American bar serving snacks and drinks. We recommend this hotel but make sure you choose a deluxe room for a better experience.
Very much in need of a refurb with not very much in the nearby vicinity

We booked this Hotel as an end to our amazing 3 week tour of Italy. We didn't want to stay in Cagliari as no beach and decided against Poetto as had been described as where youngsters flock over the summer, so thought we'd stay in between. This Hotel isn't easy to get to via public transport. I contacted the Hotel on the day we were flying but the receptionist didn't speak much English. When we arrived at the airport we were told that there were no more buses into Cagliari centre and the next train would be over 2 hours so we got a taxi which cost 25 Euros. Cagliari seemed nice however the long stretch up to the Hotel was like a building site, with disused buildings and was very unsightly. The Hotel itself, was (as someone else described) like an Italian Faulty Towers. The building is very dirty and in serious need of good lick of paint. We checked in, again with the women who didn't speak much English. She failed to tell us about Breakfast, wifi and with no lift she climbed a flight of stairs and just pointed down the hallway to our room. The door was wooden and didn't really lock securely, the room itself was big but dingy. We had paid extra for a balcony with a sea view but although the sea view was nice the balcony was dirty and with only 1 seat. We went back to reception and asked where we could eat and were pointed to the direction of the restaurant. I asked if there was a beach bar and was told no. The menus were in Italian and all faded so couldn't make out what was on offer. Ordered what I though was a chicken salad but was octopus which I couldn't eat but another table ended up taking this off us, kindly. Upon walking around the hotel, we found that, there was an actual little beach bar / cafe. I have to say this was probably the best thing about this hotel. The staff were very efficient, very friendly and helpful. We had toasties and cocktails which were amazing, and the views here over to the lighthouse were actually beaufiful. The ice cream here was actually amazing! There's a private beach, (as they call it) but it's actually a sunbathing area with about 8 loungers (you have to get there early as they go fast) but it's all rocky. You can get into the water, slowly and the water is really nice but not the safest. There's public beach near which is nice but gets really busy. If you want to go anywhere you have to get 2 buses. We instead walked down the hill (which took about 25 minutes) and then got a bus. We walked to Poetto but took a good 45 minutes at least. The buses are not reliable and some nights we waited but none came and couldn't get a taxi so were left walking the 45 minute journey home which isn't very nice walking up the hill towards the hotel with the deserted buildings. Poetta is nice during the day, and at night has some night bars with live music but only a couple and no real centre as such. The more we walked it was like ghost town and felt very eery. We went into Cagliari one night, which was ok but very deprived and a lot of graffiti. I'd heard Sardinia was beautiful with lovely beaches but I think these are mostly up in the north of the island. We were here 4 nights and there was building work going on in one of the rooms so were wakened up early every morning. Also the breakfast was very bland with one cereal and bread and cheese. I was very dissapointed with this Hotel and was not the end we had planned for our teip. From this experience I would not return to this part of the island and definitely would not stay here again.
